when i got the wiring harness it only took me 5 mins to install. the zip ties could be alittle longer but they gave me enough to get the job done. Anyone who has a dakota i highly recommend this.

by:
2007 Dodge Dakota

Easy to install. Pricing through e-trailer with shipping was half the price that NAPA wanted for the same product.

by:
2005 Dodge Dakota

Not only is the product great and exactly as described, but the customer service is out of this world! Great communication all around! In fact, I don't think I've ever had a company keep me up to date about the current status of my order as well as eTrailer. My order seemed very personalized.

Would definitely do business with again!

Easy peasy !! Remove light plug in harness, plastic tie to factory harness all done

This product (item #55323) is very easy to install. I found multiple videos on YouTube and the instructions are just as easy to follow. All I needed to do was clip some wires together and that’s it! No splicing necessary which is what I was looking for. I signed up for the cheapest shipping method and it still showed up here in Minnesota a couple days early. Now I can actually have working lights on my trailer! Totally worth the money and I will be shopping etrailer.com more often! Thank you!

by:
2007 Dodge Dakota

Product was easy to install, haven't tried it yet, but the truck lights function properly at least, the shipping took longer than was originally promised by a few days.

by:

Dodge Dakota trailer wiring harness ins talled

by:
2005 Dodge Dakota

Performed exactly as advertised on my 2005 Dodge Dakota. Although the vídeo wasn't super helpful with specifics (like the vídeo for the hitch intall, which was perfect), it's pretty easy to figure out. I got a little bit ahead of myself and unplugged ALL of the tail light connectors when in fact I only had to unplug one on each side. On my Dakota, each side has two separate bulbs and therfore two connectors. The bottom bulb and conector are only for the White backup light and there is no such conector on the trailer wiring harness therefore no need to mess with that conector. The top bulb and conector are for the running lights and blinker/brake light. Therefore, you only have to unplug that top conector and insert the conector for the trailer wire in it's place. Last trick, at least for my Dakota, the tail-light lens module comes off by pulling it straight back towards the rear of the truck and at first it seemed like it would never let loose. I almost broke one of the alignment pins by attempting to twist or pivot the lens module and it would have been better to find a way to pry it off by pulling straight toward the back of the truck rather than pulling out to the side. The trailer wiring harness was a perfect fit for my Dakota and worked perfectly once installed, no cutting or splicing of any kind was necessary. The only other thing you may want to do is buy some dielectric grease to prevent corrosion in the contact points of the connectors. Most auto parts stores sell a single use packet of dielectric grease for about $1.79 on a rack near the cash register along with single use packets of caliper pin grease, silicone grease and other special lubricants.

We actually offer a small tube of dielectric grease as part #496971. Dielectric grease works very well for keeping moisture and corrosion out of electrical connections.

2004 Dodge Dakota

Fit perfectly. Installed the trailer hitch receiver by myself in about an hour but was no easy task (had no help).
The trailer wiring harness installation info could have explained the installation a little better but worked as described.

Talk about an easy fix!! Highly recommend this product!

2007 Dodge Dakota

I haven't been able to test the product with a trailer, but I can easily write a review about the installation and etrailer's efficiency.

Etrailer processed the order and had at my door within three days. The product was packaged very well, and etrailer's communication was top notch. The kit installed with very little effort, and etrailer's installation video was perfect.

I will definitely come back for future trailer related needs.

Honestly, I never had to use it. And I just sold the truck last week. Thank you for following up. Shows great customer service.

by:
2008 Dodge Dakota

Had the harness in two days and it was exactly as advertised. Instructions were just a skosh bit fuzzy but that's probably because I'm on the downhill side of 78. Only problem I experienced was popping the plastic "rivets" out of the bed panel while removing the tail light assembly without breaking the lens. Works great and had it done in less than an hour. Thanks

I no longer have the vehicle but everything I have ever purchased from you folks has been really good.

by:

The kit appeared very well made, good materials. It was very simple to install (using the well-written instructions). I tested my lights before applying the tie-wraps and it functioned perfectly, so I applied the tie-wraps, and was finished. It took me about 45 minutes total. Not bad at all. Good product, reasonably priced, well made, and easy to install.

  • Does Curt Trailer Wiring Harness for 2006 Dodge Dakota Require Installing Fuse
The Curt trailer wiring harness part # 55323 which is the correct kit for your 2006 Dodge Dakota does not require the install of any fuses. You are ready to tow as-is! I attached an install video that shows this kit installed on a similar 2006 Dodge Dakota for you to check out as well.

If it has a single square plug like what the Hopkins Wiring # HM42190 connects to then it has the tow package. If instead the wiring runs to the tail lights like the Curt Wiring # 55323 then you don't have the tow package. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 55323 likely has an issue at one of the connection points. I recommend using your circuit tester to make sure the function works correctly before connecting the harness at that connection location. This will give you a plug and play connection without having to splice any wiring. If you do not have the factory wiring we have a 4-Way # 55323, 7-Way # ETBC7 and the Redarc # RED52VR.
