Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system and is made using SMT to ensure superior performance.

Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the storage trays, the scuff panel, the interior side panel, and the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

I've had the wiring harness in my Subaru Impreza for a year now. It does what I need it to and it's easy to pull out to use it. I remember it wasn't too difficult to install -- the hardest part was trying to be so smart about routing it and preventing future wear and tear. I think it was worth it because everything is okay so far!
Wiring it into my tail lights did somehow disable the trunk light, but that was probably my fault. I don't care enough about it to pull it all apart again and see what happened.
The vehicle we put the wiring & hitch on was a Subaru Impreza and it worked out great. We now have an Outback and are trying to decide if we will need a hitch & wiring for it too. Will let you know.
Right channel was dead on arrival. The harness was easy enough to install, plug and play into the tail lights, then run a ground and a fused power. Easy enough. My unit has a faulty right channel, constantly outputs about a volt and a half, and will not pass stop or turn power through. This is my own fault, the unit I had sat in the packaging for over a year until I got around to installing it on my backup car when I discovered the faulty converter, the unit is now out of warranty. Ordering the Tekonsha instead. Never liked Curt for trailering electronics anyways.
Much more difficult than other harnesses I have installed, due to the need for a direct connect to the battery. The instructions provide NO help for where to route the hot lead the length of the car, and the video has no details either. This is the most difficult and time-consuming part of the install, and neither Curt nor etrailer provide any guidance. Very disappointed.
Install went well as I am familiar with my car. I ran the power wire internally under the interior trim and through the fire wall to the battery to prevent weather exposure as I live in Maine. The instructions should be more car specific to help those not quite as familiar with their cars. Overall the quality is very good and wire lengths were spot on. I would highly recommend this product! Subaru Impreza has a wire channel drivers side under the door sill trim plates which works perfect for this install. All parts required for the install except tools came in the kit. I will be a repeat customer!
Very happy to say when. hooked up my boat trailer this spring to start a new fishing season all my lights were working. So far everything very good!
Very high quality product. Installation went exactly as described in the instructions. The reason I keep coming back to etrailer is because of their customer support and instructional videos.
Installed on my 2017 Impreza hatch. Was a bit of a pain to find a good place to run the 12g wire to the battery but other than that it was relatively simple and straight forward. I ended up using some metal loom clamps and zipties to run the wire underneath the car. I am very pleased with the product, Thanks Etrailer.
I gave it three stars because of the power wire everthing else was simple plug and play.
I had my mechanic install the harness and he said it was an easy install. He also mentioned that it was a very high quality harness. we have not had any issues with the harness. works great.
Easy to use, all laid out for install. I recommend watching a YouTube video because it is a lot of wires.
The harness works great. Pretty self explanatory to install. Took me about 2 hours start to finish.
bolted right up and haven't had one iss ue
Works perfectly
Great support, thx
It's a complete product. Everything went in according to the directions and I didn't need anything extra.
Come with everything needed
Great p roduct
