Weld-on surge brake actuator with adjustable drop channel lets you mount a coupler (sold separately) in 1 of 5 positions to fit your application. Electric lockout lets you back up without activating trailer brakes. Roller design reduces resistance.
Features:
Specs:
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. When this happens, the actuator contracts, applying force to its master cylinder. This in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.
Electric Reverse Lockout
The electric reverse lockout on this trailer brake actuator is automatically activated when you shift your tow vehicle into reverse. The solenoid wires into your trailer connector - which connects to your tow vehicle - so that it can detect when you are in reverse. When your vehicle is in reverse, the solenoid ensures that the hydraulic actuator does not activate your trailer's brakes, thus allowing you to back up your rig. To use the lockout feature, you must have a 5-pole flat, 6-way round, or 7-pole trailer connector.
Adjustable Channel Design
The adjustable channel on this trailer brake actuator allows for ultimate versatility. Mount almost any type of coupler (sold separately) - from a standard ball coupler to a lunette ring or clevis attachment - to fit your specific application. In addition, the 3 mounting positions on the channel let you adjust the height of the coupler. Just place the coupler so that it matches the height of the ball mount or other hitch attachment on your tow vehicle and you will be able to tow your trailer levelly.
This actuator is great for tall trailers. This is because the adjustable channel is positioned so that the mounted coupler can sit below the actuator tube, allowing for a greater drop than with a standard center-mounted channel. As a result, you can line up your tall trailer with your tow vehicle's hitch for a level setup.

Today we're going to take a look at the Titan adjustable channel disc brake actuator with the reverse lockout and it has a 20,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops.Basically what happens is when you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and the momentum will push the trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. So with a surge brake system, the actuators triggered and as your trailer moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down, the actuator will contract and apply force to the master cylinder that's in here and then this in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer's brakes. This one is a unique roller design. You can see the two rollers here, the two down here. These will help reduce resistance during the telescoping to create a nice straight line movement. And if you notice on the ends of those rollers they have grease zerk fittings that make it very easy for lubrication of the moving parts. This is a sturdy, durable steel construction. It will resist bending in any jackknife situations.
And on the very back here, if I spin this around, you can see they have an electric reverse lockout solenoid and this will allow you to back up without actuating your trailer brakes. Basically this electric reverse lockout is automatically activated when you shift your tow vehicle into reverse and the solenoid wires on the end here, this'll wire into your trailer connector which will connect to your tow vehicle so that it could detect when you're in reverse. And when it's in reverse, the solenoid ensures that the hydraulic actuator does not activate your trailer brakes, which allows you to back up your vehicle. Now to use this lockout feature, you do have to have either a five-way flat, six way round, or a seven way trailer connector on your vehicle. If you notice they also install this built in shield to protect that solenoid valve from the elements and from any damage. If you go to the front here, we have an offset adjustable channel here. You can see it has five different mounting positions. For your coupler, now the coupler that goes in here, which is not included, that is sold separately.
And if you notice on this channel it does have a builtin drop, which is great for tall trailers and that's because of the adjustable channels position so that the mounted coupler can sit below the actuator tube, allowing for a greater drop than with a standard center mounted channel. So as a result you can line up a tall trailer with your tow vehicle's hitch for a nice level setup.Few dimensions I want to give you on this channel. The height of it from the bottom to the very top, it's going to be right at 12 inches. The inside width that your cupper 00:02:31 will fit into, inside to inside, is going to be right at three inches. And the distance between the mounting holes, in other words, center to center between each mounting hole next to each other, it's going to be right at two inches. They do use a prime finish on the outer casing and a painted inner slide.
Does include the breakaway kit. That's this chain here and this is required. And what this will do, this chain hook right here, will hook to your tow vehicle. And what this will do is when you have a runaway situation, in case your trailer would become disconnected from your tow vehicle, what it will happen is it'll pull on this chain, which would then activate the switch, which would activate your master cylinder and it'll apply the pressure to your brakes to prevent a runaway situation. That is all included. How to install this.
It is a weld on installation. Application, this is designed for trailers with disc brakes. Again, the gross towing weight capacity is 20,000 pounds. Maximum tongue weight is 2000 pounds. And this is designed to mount on a straight three inch wide trailer tongue. But that should do it for the review on this Titan adjustable channel disc brake actuator with the reverse lockout and a 20,000 pound gross towing weight capacity.
