Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.


Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)


Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)


Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Incredible value for money!
Wheelhub on my cheap trailer disintegrated. Fortunately within a few yards of home- probably assembled without grease. . After fitting this replacement I decided that I wouldn't be able to survive a second failure so bought a kit to replace the other wheelhub since the kit was so affordable.
A deficiency on the first kit was dealt with so cooperatively by E-trailer that I am a fan for life.

It was a bad day when the hub on my trailer disintegrated, although we were extremely fortunate it was unloaded and in the driveway. An hour later would have been a regular disaster. Found the right kit on E-trailer and delivery was as usual very prompt. To my amazement and irritation the sealed plastic bag containing the kit was one bearing short. But here is why I give them 5 stars; I was expecting a roll of the eyes when I told them a bearing was missing because it would be natural to believe the kit was correct and I had damaged or lost one of them right? I was anticipating a major argument. But the woman was extremely understanding and ACTUALLY APOLOGIZED rather than accuse me of dishonesty. CarryAnne even gave me her direct cell # in case there was another problem. Follow up was with George also first-class.
You learn little about a company when things go right, but it is SO GREAT to have a company respond properly when there is a problem.
I have used E-trailer for many odds and sods over the years along with other suppliers, but I will go out of my way to stay with E-trailer from now on.

I'd rate this as excellent if all parts came as ordered. I ordered 2 sets to replace existing 4 lug hubs to make consistent with my second trailer to allow swapping of tires. With 5 lugs in one packet and 3 in the other I'm 2 lugs short of a full load. Love the video support, love the quick turnaround, just need to make sure I get all the parts. Overall installation was very easy on the second and I now have a decent understanding of what to look for in bearings and trailer wheels.

This hub was exactly what I hoped it would be. All the parts installed easy. My trailer is back to normal. Note, this kit includes all the hardware, but you'll need to spend a couple bucks on lube either online when you order or at any local auto or hardware store.

Well after a year and about 2000 miles. Still good. I repack the bearings every 6 months depending on how much I use my trailer. It’s a 7 foot single axle used to haul a golf cart for trap competitions and hauling wood. Was concerned about the Chinese bearings but have no problems so far.

Replacing the spindle is possible but the issue with that is that it will have to be cut out and then a new one installed by a professional welder.
