Zach: Hey everybody, Zach 00:00:01 here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at CIPA's Concept II Rearview Boat Mirror. It's going to be a really nice way to allow us to see behind our boat, whether we're towing a skier or we just want to be able to have good visibility behind us so we can keep our eyes forward. We don't have to do this weird half-turn thing where we're looking behind us and going back and forth. That's not the safest way to be out on the water. This is going to give us a nice, easy adjustable mirror that gives us really good visibility behind our boat.
Now, when it comes to this mirror, this is one of the most solid ones I've tested it out. I've thrown a couple of different ones on this boat, and they all fit good, even ones with CIPA that had the same mounting style. This one just has a nice snug fit around this frame. When it comes to the windshield frames that these attach to, it's going to work with half-inch up to seven-eighths inch on those frames. You can mount it on top like this, or you can flip it around and mount it underneath. But that fit is really nice.
I'm not getting a lot of movement. There's some right there you can see in that ball and socket, but that just allows you to pivot this around to get a better fit. Now, one of the other big things with this one for me is the size. Now, this isn't the largest one that we offer. This is only going to measure at about four by eight inches, and we have 11-inch versions. But I personally like this one because I still get a really nice wide angle with that convex lens, but I'm not obstructing a lot of my view upfront either because it's just as important obviously to see where you're going up front.
But we still have good visibility back behind us so we can still see who we're towing, and I can see if anybody's approaching from the backside as well. You can see back here, it has a white ABS plastic housing on it, so it's going to hold up against some minor impacts. Then all of this is going to be metal. I like the white finish on it. I think it's going to look good on your boat. And you can see that's where that ball and socket is to allow it to pivot there.
This arm is a little loose there. It allows a little bit of movement, but it is held in place with a bolt and a nut there. You can use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen that up to angle it differently if you want.So probably not a bad idea to keep that screwdriver on board or just at least keep one on the dock. I think that this right here is going to give you the angle you're looking for. But overall, I think this is a really nice addition to your boat, especially if you have people on the back of it skiing. I think even if you're not doing anything like that, it's still a nice thing to have, so you can keep your eyes forward and still keep an eye on the back. But overall, pretty easy to use, pretty easy to adjust and move around if you feel the need to.Let's just walk you through how we put this one in place. The first thing you need to do is figure out how you want to mount it. We can mount it like this, or we can get a little bit higher up. Whatever's going to fit your boat a little bit better. I think what going to do is I'm going to mount mine like this, and then I'm just going to find a good spot on here where I'm not making any contact with the snaps that are on the backside of this frame here that are there for a boat cover. I'll just get those knobs twisted up, so they're tight and get a nice snug fit. All right, and when we get that snug, we can make the adjustments necessary to get our mirror set up properly. I'm just going to take a Phillips screwdriver to this other side, loosen that up, and just rotate that to give us a better viewing angle. Then, I'll get it tightened down again. Then we can make any adjustments we want with the mirror on that ball and socket pivot. You can see I'm still a little loose. So, I need to get that tightened down a little bit more. All right, that's much better. That movement there is just in that ball and socket now. Then we can adjust that mirror to get that angle we want. You can see we have a nice snug fit mirror. I like this angle right here. It allows me to see right behind me with whoever I've got back there, and then, I can still look forward, so I have a nice, safe way to tow my skiers. But that's going to do it for our look at the CIPA Rearview Boat Mirror.
This is the mirror I liked the best for our Alumaweld Stryker fish/ski boat!
Well made and easy to install. I am very happy with this mirror
I ordered the mirror to install on a tractor. I chose it based on the video review on etrailer and what size I thought would work. I haven't installed it yet, but it looks to be great quality and exactly as described.
Did not attach tightly to my windshield , resulting in a vibration in the mirror when in rough water
For the price, this mirror is excellent! Mounts very securely with the included rubber inserts and there is no vibration. I have a center console with a bimini and I was able to attach it on the overhead bow allowing me to glance up and have a good view of the skier. Plastic seems sturdy, only wish it was a little wider, but that doesn’t detract from its usefulness.
Ordering and shipping from etrailer.com is always a great experience.
Well made weather proof mirror for keeping track of activity in my vessels cockpit without constantly having to turn around. I installed it as a fixed mount to my center console hardtop. Very satisfied with the purchase at a fair price point.
Great video! It shows all of the pros and cons of each type of ski mirror! I am so grateful to etrailer for making these videos. The mfr has terrible information on their product and i definitely would have purchased the wrong mirror if not for this video.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH etrailer!
You just stole all of my business from Amazon!
This is a great mirror. Easy to attach and remove. Makes boating so much safer. Esoecially when pulling a skier.
Good mirror, good bright reflection. Need to tighten up the bolts holding it together so it stays where you set it. Overall happy with it.
Exactly what we were expecting. Mounted fine and works great.
