Thule Ski and Snowboard Racks Review - 2020 Mazda CX-5

Andy: Hello everyone, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today we're going to take a look at the Thule Snowpack Ski and Snowboard Carrier on our 2020 Mazda CX-5.So taking a closer look at this snowboard carrier, it does have a huge release knob here, that is going to be very easy whenever you have thicker gloves or mittens on, and you need to get your equipment out in order to hit those slopes. One thing also it's very, very slim and streamlined, which is nice to kind of help with maybe some of that wind noise that we might pick up.The other thing to look at is how thick the rubber padding is both on the top and the bottom, and they're going to keep those skis and snowboards very, very secure whenever we're on the road.So let's go ahead and take a look. We'll remove everything and look a little bit closer at some of the features that it has. And as easy as that, we'll get our snowboard removed and we'll reach there and get our skis removed as well.So this rubber padding is very thick, very flexible, both on the top and the bottom, but it will keep everything secured and in there, nice and tightly. If we look a little closer here also, when it comes to mounting or unmounting the carrier from whatever bar you have, which is nice, cause this will work with various different styles and sizes of bars here. We have an arrow bar and it fits nicely, but we'll just loosen this knob and that will release the tension from the strap and we can pull that off, like so.Then to get it secured and mounted, we will go ahead and just tighten that knob up all the way.

Also, we now have more room in the back of the hatch for any of our other types of gear. Helmets, and gloves, and boots, whatever it be, we can store that back and still have our passengers riding comfortably. Some of the nice features about the snowboard rack are the mounting plates here that will attach to various styles and sizes of bars. As you can see here, we do have them on the Inno Aero Bar and it is a very nice, solid, secure fit.
