Best 2017 Mazda CX-5 Trailer Hitch Ball Mounts

Strong and seems to be well made and well finished. One-inch ball mounting hole. I used this for a Curt hitch mounted on a 2014 Forester and pulls a small Harbor Freight trailer. Perfect height and trailer is level. Warning - don't get their hitch pin, it does not have a hole for a cotter pin, only a weak clip that I would not trust.

I searched the internet to put a hitch on my 2016 Chevy Equinox and found an instructional video from eTrailer.com where they installed on my exact car. I decided to go with eTrailer.com because they answered all my questions and because of the video-I support businesses that go the extra mile with these videos. Shipping was quick and well tracked, however, the box was flimsy and the one end of the hitch had come out of the box side and the ball mount could have easily come out of that hole during shipping. If I were eTrailer.com I'd charge an extra couple of bucks for more sturdy boxes-people will still buy as eTrailer is a well-trusted brand and this would overcome a lot of the negative reviews you'll see on their site about this shipping issue in their own reviews :-) I installed the hitch by myself (definitely recommend help as two people holding it up to the frame makes attaching 100% easier) in about 45 minutes total (out of the box, read instructions, review video again and installation complete). All hardware went on with no issues. Great quality hitch! I also bought the lesser expensive wiring assembly because most recent equinox's come hitch ready with pre-wired assembly in the left side compartment-snap and done. Picked up a new trailer at Home Depot within days and drove 5 feet and the clacking was horrible. I had always had a welded hitch before buying a hitch that took a ball mount. I really thought something was wrong and when I searched the internet that night it turns out this is very common. However, all you need is some sort of hitch "silencing" device. The number of options will drive you mad but I went with the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch and it did the trick for much less than most of the other options. If I were eTrailer.com I'd have that as one of the RECOMMENDED add-ons and explanation why its super-worthy when customers are buying a hitch. Would have saved me the time and hassle of dealing with it later and the extra shipping charge for buying after the fact when I got free shipping for the other items the first time :-) All in all, I'm super, super happy with my hitch, wiring assembly, ball mount, ball mount locking pin and the hitch silencer. The hitch and ball mount are excellent quality. My concerns are twofold. The hitch is so heavy that I had to take it to my mechanic to have it installed. Minor cost and inconvenience, but the hitch for my previous F-150 was just as sturdy, but easy to install myself (albeit with higher ground clearance). My concern about the ball mount is that the factory told me erroneously that it could not be reversed for a drop, so I returned it. This order is for the replacement after I was finally correctly told it could be reversed and how to do that. Ball mount would have been a 3 for that reason, and overall hitch and ball mount quality a 5. So I averaged them.

I have two of these. My first I bought two years ago. I very highly recommend this Curt Class III Ballmount 2" Drop because of its price, durability and quality. I towed various class 3 loads with ease and confidence with this ballmount. It slides into the hitch and does its job without fail. It looks excellent after towing a load. etrailer's price is about as good as it gets and delivery is very speedy.

Working in the sand and grass of my driveway my wife and I installed our new etrailer receiver hitch. Great fit and finish! Went right on as described in the online guide. Hitch required a spacer washer on top back bolt attachment point. Taped it on so it would not move while lifting in place and it stayed right there! Used a car jack to raise up and hold the hitch into the underside of the trunk tighten the bolts and reattached the tail pipe done. Now we can pull our Sunfish Sailboat any where the car will go.

The product is good but a bit tideous and after installing it my bracket fell and it was a pain to get replace it support made me buy the replacement pieces and the bracket didnt come with just the bolts, and at the end they told i have i had to buy the whole unit because based on their system my truck didnt have issues with installement and the manufacturer didnt supply that bracket cause it special order so in general i dont recommend in my choice better to get it welded.

I'll start off with the great customer service, called a rep for assistance and did a great job. He walked me through everything for about 5 minutes. Then I proceeded to order parts at a very reasonable price. Shipping was right on time and tracking was top notch. Now for the parts I received. Trailer hitch receiver was built like a tank, and very easy to install. I didn't even have to take off the whole bumper which I see on your website. There is only one problem with this hitch receiver. Zip ties to hold the facia bracket? It's like putting a $10 paint job on a Rolls Royce. I'm sure you have a good R&D department, but this is unacceptable. I could tell you how to make this better but I'm not part of your team. Could be solved by putting a ___ on the ______. R&D should be smart enough and paid well to figure this out. No offense but they can do better. ??ZIP TIES?? Also, it is pitched with a cap but did not receive that. I also purchased A brake controller P3 and a ball hitch. The ball hitch is pictured wrong on your website. It's pictured with an adjustable ball hitch. This is what really wanted but got something entirely different. If it works, I'll be fine with it. I should have caught that, but my eyes adjusted on the adjustable ball hitch. P3 brake controller was very easy to install, about 5 minutes. On a closing note, I will order from etrailer again. Thanks for your business. Just please listen to your customers and fix these problems. Everything and everybody are not perfect. Thanks again.

The hitch assembly included everything needed for quick and complete installation. Perfect fit for my 2023 Honda Passport. Have been using etrailer for some years now and have never had a bad experience. The self-help videos are a plus for customer service. Good work guys!

Wonderful product. I had the hitch installed in 10 minutes. The wiring was a little more tricky because it required running a power wire all the way to the battery. I towed my trailer from Florida to Tennessee and back. Etrailer is still wonderful to deal with as they always have been in the past. My hitch came in a couple of days. WOW! What can I say? Easiest install ever! I called ahead of time and spoke with Katie about what I needed. She confirmed what I wanted would work with my van. I'm in the shipping business. The bar arrived in mint condition in a double wall box with the accessories boxed separately. After removing the hardware, reading the instructions and watching their video online, I went to work. The whole thing took less than 20 mins and I did not have to remove the exhaust. I actually used it to help hold the bar up. It took longer to remove the mud guard and rear body molding than to install. It is heavy, weighing in at about 65lbs but I did not even have to use a jack on the van. I'm very happy with my purchase and can now put bikes on the back of the van rather than in the van. I can tow our Cub Scout trailer and hall my sons football teams gear with the optional rear carrying racks. I also love the fact that the bar hides about 6" behind the bumper preventing injuries to the shins. The price was cheap and the install a breeze.

The welding splatter found its way to the hitch pin hole and it took me some time with a Dremel to clean it out so the hitch pin would slide in.

Each edge of the hitch receiver shipping carton was pierced by mounting brackets, but no damage fortunately. Consider adding another layer of cardboard padding?

This part came with the trailer hitch I purchased. It was very easy to transfer the ball from my 2" hitch and voila I am now ready to haul my trailer.

Heavy duty! I was a little bummed when I found out how much more difficult it was to find a half inch pin for this, but no matter. It is a tad loose inside the hitch, so there's a little rattle, but I doubt it's as noticable as I make it seem. Super classy and a welcome change from the typical draw bar style. Overly tight on the receiver end bit functions as intended.

I am an infrequent trailer user, but getting my daughter home from college was necessary in March. This drawbar fits my hitch and utility trailer well, did exactly what it is supposed to do, and was the last thing to be concerned about right then. I have a '11 Mini Countryman S with a Class II receiver from Mini Fini, (which cost twice as much as a Curt) where the hole is flush with the fake grille near the bottom of the bumper cover, so I needed the long bar to reach out past the bumper. The Curt receiver for that car hangs visible underneath the bumper (ugly), which also increases the lever arm on the receiver beam and would have needed an even taller rise. (Curt take note!) All just part of the kit to create an occasional 1 ton pickup out of my Mini, leaving the "bed" at home most of the time.

Love this hitch. It looks and fits my Optima perfectly. I was really pleased to find a modern looking hitch to fit on my car. Very strong, solid construction. Perfect for my Honda Fit as it has a low carriage, the Euro shape gave me a few extra inches to tow a small trailer across the country from Oregon to North Carolina with no issues.

Fits our VW Touareg perfectly and allows us to tow a variety of things now. As can be seen in the pictures the hitch has a +5-inch gap between the bumper and the vertical adjustment pillar and the trailer itself is out further so there's enough room to get to the rear hatch and maneuver the vehicle/trailer.

I needed a hitch that I could haul my work trailer with and still drop the tailgate without dropping the trailer. I looked on etrailer and found one that would work barely but decided to call etrailer and see if anyone had any ideas. Steve answered and looked after I told him my requirements and came up with this. This has a longer distance from ball to pin by a few inches compared to the one I found so my tailgate will still drop even if I’m at an angle to my trailer or on a hill. This is a great all-purpose hitch. I've used it to mount a heavy-duty bike rack and a steel T-rack to carry a canoe as well as lumber. Most recently I hauled 5 x 8 cargo trailers full of plants, then furniture for a 600-mile move. It was simple to use, problem free, very strong and sturdy. Now that I live on some acreage, I see a trailer in my future, so this will get a lot more use. I drive a 2013 Tacoma, so this is a good size hitch at a good price with sufficient capacity for my needs. I do use a key lock for the hitch as well.

I actually got my hitch the date they said it would be here to my surprise. When the box arrived it was pretty much beat up, not the hitch just the box. I wished there was instructions how to install it. Overall very satisfied and will buy from 5hem again

This starter kit was exactly the size I needed for the hitch on my Trailblazer, and has held up beautifully this past year. I'm confident it will last for the lifetime of the vehicle.

Worked perfectly. Super easy installation and it carried a U-haul 5x8 trailer 1000 miles with almost full capacity on tow-limits. A little disappointed that the connecting rod doesn't fit perfectly into the receiver hitch. So, when there is no weight on the ball mount, it is wobbly and makes an annoying metal-to-metal clinking noise whenever you go over a ditch. You can easily correct it with a piece of cardboard stuffing for cushioning or just take it off when not it use. Great piece of equipment, works perfectly! Super happy with the purchase.

We sold our small motor home and purchased a small travel trailer. This hitch provided a perfect solution to how to use our bike rack while towing the trailer. It even allows room for the pickup tailgate to be lowered without removing the bikes from the rack. The hitch is very hefty with a high weight limit - plenty for the GVW of the trailer (7,000#) plus 125# of rack and bikes.

This has been an amazing multipurpose ball mount. We purchased this to use with our Hollywood Bike Rack and also to connect onto our boat. We weren't sure if this would work, but it was awesome. It is very well built and We had to make some minor adjustments to the position of our boat on the trailer so the turning radius of the bike rack that was attached would clear the truck. This is very well made and solid.

I purchased this Curt Ball mount 10-1/4" because I also bought ball hitch mounted mud flaps and my existing hitch was too short.This hitch was maybe a little too long, but it should work.I hope this combination will protect my horse trailer from my nasty gravel roads!

Parts were delivered earlier than the initial estimate. Self installation (on a sloped drive way) took just under 2 hour. The fit of parts was very good, instructions and on-line video's were very helpful. My Kia did not have the wire plug in option, but the splice connections in the wire kit were easy to install. Most of the parts are hidden from view when the ball mount is not used.
