Best 1996 Chevrolet Astro Trailer Hitch Ball Mounts

Strong and seems to be well made and well finished. One-inch ball mounting hole. I used this for a Curt hitch mounted on a 2014 Forester and pulls a small Harbor Freight trailer. Perfect height and trailer is level. Warning - don't get their hitch pin, it does not have a hole for a cotter pin, only a weak clip that I would not trust.

I searched the internet to put a hitch on my 2016 Chevy Equinox and found an instructional video from eTrailer.com where they installed on my exact car. I decided to go with eTrailer.com because they answered all my questions and because of the video-I support businesses that go the extra mile with these videos. Shipping was quick and well tracked, however, the box was flimsy and the one end of the hitch had come out of the box side and the ball mount could have easily come out of that hole during shipping. If I were eTrailer.com I'd charge an extra couple of bucks for more sturdy boxes-people will still buy as eTrailer is a well-trusted brand and this would overcome a lot of the negative reviews you'll see on their site about this shipping issue in their own reviews :-) I installed the hitch by myself (definitely recommend help as two people holding it up to the frame makes attaching 100% easier) in about 45 minutes total (out of the box, read instructions, review video again and installation complete). All hardware went on with no issues. Great quality hitch! I also bought the lesser expensive wiring assembly because most recent equinox's come hitch ready with pre-wired assembly in the left side compartment-snap and done. Picked up a new trailer at Home Depot within days and drove 5 feet and the clacking was horrible. I had always had a welded hitch before buying a hitch that took a ball mount. I really thought something was wrong and when I searched the internet that night it turns out this is very common. However, all you need is some sort of hitch "silencing" device. The number of options will drive you mad but I went with the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch and it did the trick for much less than most of the other options. If I were eTrailer.com I'd have that as one of the RECOMMENDED add-ons and explanation why its super-worthy when customers are buying a hitch. Would have saved me the time and hassle of dealing with it later and the extra shipping charge for buying after the fact when I got free shipping for the other items the first time :-) All in all, I'm super, super happy with my hitch, wiring assembly, ball mount, ball mount locking pin and the hitch silencer. I'll start off with the great customer service, called a rep for assistance and did a great job. He walked me through everything for about 5 minutes. Then I proceeded to order parts at a very reasonable price. Shipping was right on time and tracking was top notch. Now for the parts I received. Trailer hitch receiver was built like a tank, and very easy to install. I didn't even have to take off the whole bumper which I see on your website. There is only one problem with this hitch receiver. Zip ties to hold the facia bracket? It's like putting a $10 paint job on a Rolls Royce. I'm sure you have a good R&D department, but this is unacceptable. I could tell you how to make this better but I'm not part of your team. Could be solved by putting a ___ on the ______. R&D should be smart enough and paid well to figure this out. No offense but they can do better. ??ZIP TIES?? Also, it is pitched with a cap but did not receive that. I also purchased A brake controller P3 and a ball hitch. The ball hitch is pictured wrong on your website. It's pictured with an adjustable ball hitch. This is what really wanted but got something entirely different. If it works, I'll be fine with it. I should have caught that, but my eyes adjusted on the adjustable ball hitch. P3 brake controller was very easy to install, about 5 minutes. On a closing note, I will order from etrailer again. Thanks for your business. I believe my choice, with the help of etrailer, of this Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver, along with a few other items to go with it, such as the drawbar, hitch ball and wiring harness, was a good one for my 2017 Subaru Forester. This is a great all-purpose hitch. I've used it to mount a heavy-duty bike rack and a steel T-rack to carry a canoe as well as lumber. Most recently I hauled 5 x 8 cargo trailers full of plants, then furniture for a 600-mile move. It was simple to use, problem free, very strong and sturdy. Now that I live on some acreage, I see a trailer in my future, so this will get a lot more use. I drive a 2013 Tacoma, so this is a good size hitch at a good price with sufficient capacity for my needs. I do use a key lock for the hitch as well.

I actually got my hitch the date they said it would be here to my surprise. When the box arrived it was pretty much beat up, not the hitch just the box. I wished there was instructions how to install it. Overall very satisfied and will buy from 5hem again

I hooked up the draw bar today for the first time to the trailer that I built and the hitch I installed. The draw bar uses a cotter pin that slides on the bolt rather than going through a hole to mount the bar to the hitch. I have never used a sliding on pin in anything - I've only used those that go through a small hole matching the pin. This includes my farm tractor and other tools. I hope it is secure because it does slide on easily. The bar itself appears nice and strong.

Looks to be a well built hitch there's virtually no other 12" drop hitches short of expensive adjustable ones it's just about right for my custom bumper

Arrived today. Fast shipping, and thank you for that! Seems to be a quality ball mount. Just what I needed to get the ball lower to tow my trailer. With this, now the top of the ball is at 16" where it needs to be. Custom built receiver on my old moving box van. Just need to weld on safety chain slots and paint it. Can't drop the lift gate with the receiver in (its pinned on both sides), but hey....I can tow now.

I have two of these. My first I bought two years ago. I very highly recommend this Curt Class III Ballmount 2" Drop because of its price, durability and quality. I towed various class 3 loads with ease and confidence with this ballmount. It slides into the hitch and does its job without fail. It looks excellent after towing a load. etrailer's price is about as good as it gets and delivery is very speedy.

The hitch and ball mount are excellent quality. My concerns are twofold. The hitch is so heavy that I had to take it to my mechanic to have it installed. Minor cost and inconvenience, but the hitch for my previous F-150 was just as sturdy, but easy to install myself (albeit with higher ground clearance). My concern about the ball mount is that the factory told me erroneously that it could not be reversed for a drop, so I returned it. This order is for the replacement after I was finally correctly told it could be reversed and how to do that. Ball mount would have been a 3 for that reason, and overall hitch and ball mount quality a 5. So I averaged them.

Solid construction, real heavy duty

I purchased the AMSC10 because I needed a 10" drop hitch to tow my lowboy enclosed trailer with my lifted Toyota Tundra. I tried several other types of hitches with this towing combo and I was always disappointed. Mostly because of the fit/sloppiness of the ball mount into the receiver. This would cause a lot of noise and the feeling of the trailer "bucking" while hitting bumps and such. The other hitches that I tried were those cool aluminum ones, both a fixed one and an adjustable one. Although they were pretty, both left me very disappointed. The shipping for this hitch from Etrailer was fast and efficient. I received emails informing me of my order status throughout the whole process. Upon receiving my AMSC10, I tested it out and found it to be a much nicer fit into the receiver. Once I hooked up to the trailer and began to tow, the difference was extremely noticeable. This hitch is quiet, it doesn't buck, and in fact, comparatively, you wouldn't even know the trailer was behind you unless you looked. I am actually really excited about towing with this hitch. I know it sounds goofy, because it is, but it makes the task so much more pleasurable with the cushion ball mount. I'm already thinking about buying the 8" drop for my normal trailers.

To be honest, I use it upside down. I needed a hitch with rise, but none were available at time of purchase, and yours, inverted, works perfectly! The welds are regularly checked and remain all secure. It's a good hitch.

Working in the sand and grass of my driveway my wife and I installed our new etrailer receiver hitch. Great fit and finish! Went right on as described in the online guide. Hitch required a spacer washer on top back bolt attachment point. Taped it on so it would not move while lifting in place and it stayed right there! Used a car jack to raise up and hold the hitch into the underside of the trunk tighten the bolts and reattached the tail pipe done. Now we can pull our Sunfish Sailboat any where the car will go.

Purchased to extend the trailer away from the back of the vehicle, and increase the drop. Initially could not fit in to my receiver, eventually figured out that the end of the 2" square was mushroomed, had to remove excess metal with a rotary tool. now it fits as far as the first 5/8" pin hole. No issues with use - seems sturdy, metal finish seems durable. Didn't drop the trailer tongue as much as I had hoped, but that's on me - I was probably running a 3" drop before, but I thought it was 2".

Dual length to get past a spare tyre mounted to the rear door. The 1’ hole allows for a heavier grade of ball to be mounted. The product is well made and packaged. I found etrailer some years ago after doing a global search for a product that I needed. This draw bar in perfect for my John Deere X738 tractor. What I like about it is the ¾” rise it keep the draw bar height at about the same as the factory frame so the attachments height remain level. Thanks for the great product.

Not much you can say about a bar with a piece of flat metal welded to it; well made looks good. What is really important is that e-trailer is fast, friendly and knowledgeable. I've ordered from them anytime I needed a trailer/RV part.

Worked perfectly. Super easy installation and it carried a U-haul 5x8 trailer 1000 miles with almost full capacity on tow-limits. A little disappointed that the connecting rod doesn't fit perfectly into the receiver hitch. So, when there is no weight on the ball mount, it is wobbly and makes an annoying metal-to-metal clinking noise whenever you go over a ditch. You can easily correct it with a piece of cardboard stuffing for cushioning or just take it off when not it use. Great piece of equipment, works perfectly! Super happy with the purchase.

Everything arrived pretty quick and the install wasn't too difficult for 1 person (would've helped to have an extra set of hands). Took a couple tries to line everything up and realize that certain brackets needed to be unbolted before the hitch would align (tow hook on passenger side, and a couple near the rear driver's side exhaust hanger). Minimal trimming required for the underside of the rear bumper plastic on the driver's side to make room on an 05 wrx wagon. Also needed at least 1 extra long exhaust hanger (kartboy) for the rear to make everything level with my 3" turbo back APS exhaust. Haven't gotten a chance to tow with it yet, but it feels solid.

Purchased this hitch as a companion for our Reese anti sway control. The small ball for the Reese sway control fits in the bracket and the 2” drop on the hitch is exactly what we needed to have our Jayco camper level when towing.

I cannot use this ball mount because the shaft is too short that goes into hitch receiver on my one ton Dodge truck. It does not allow enough room between truck back bumper and ball to allow any trailer tongue to be put on ball.

I needed an extended ball mount for my new Jeep in order for my utility trailer tongue to clear the rear mounted spare tire. Item is as described on the web site and was received earlier than expected. etrailer has great customer service and is my number one go to place for towing and trailer supplies.

Overall, I have to say that I am satisfied although not particularily impressed. The finish on the ball mount is mediocre ... there are several spots where the paint is chipped off for instance. It was received today and installed today with no use yet the pictures show the areas in question. You can tell by the label installation that someone who really didn't care rushed the operation. It also fit considerably looser than the Reese bar that I removed. I had to apply several turns of duct tape around the tube to make it as snug as the original. As I said, it'll do fine, just not impressed.

Good fit, well made, worked well on first use, ball attached easily, was the reciever I was looking for.

Products came sooner than expected with it being so close to the holiday. Everything has gone together as expected. I included a photo of where the hitch height is on our 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan which I would have appreciated while deciding on which products to purchase. Thank you!
