Is There a Better Way to Wire My Trolling Motor Battery?

Wiring a 12V trolling motor and onboard charger to a single battery can lead to stacked terminals and crowded battery posts. This kit replaces those stacked connections with defined connection points for both the motor and charger, making it easier to see what's connected and where everything goes. With integrated charging leads included, the charger ties into the same battery without competing for space on the terminal. This layout creates a 12V connection that stays organized once it's installed.

Made for Tight Battery Compartments

Battery compartments don't leave much room to work, even with a single battery and charger leads involved. With the connectors attached at the battery first, you're not trying to crimp, stack, and tighten multiple terminals inside a cramped space. The wiring routes with fewer awkward angles and less back-and-forth, so the install stays simple instead of turning into a job where you're fighting tools and clearance the whole time.

I really like how much easier the Connect-Ease makes setting up a trolling motor battery system. On smaller fishing boats, space is tight and battery wiring can get messy fast, and this helps keep everything clean and manageable.

What I appreciate most is how simple it made putting the trolling motor on its own battery bank. Having dedicated batteries means more time out on the water and less worrying about running out of power. Once it’s installed, connecting and disconnecting the batteries is quick and straightforward.

It also makes maintenance easier. When it’s time to charge or remove the batteries, I’m not fighting cables or stacked terminals, everything just unplugs. This is one of those upgrades that makes boating feel easier and less stressful, especially if you spend long days relying on your trolling motor.

  • Can I Use Quick Disconnect Battery Connection On Battery That Powers Multiple Things?
Jeremy, yes - that’s actually a pretty common use case. These kits aren’t limited to trolling motors; they’re really about simplifying battery connections in general. Anywhere you’re stacking ring terminals or swapping connections, a quick-disconnect helps clean things up. One thing to note is that they are made to fit the threaded battery studs that stick out of marine batteries, so if you don't have a marine battery, you'll need to use a different battery terminal clamp adapter that adapts...

  • Will The Connect-Ease Quick Disconnect Harness Stay Secure While Driving Or Running Equpment?
Nathan, they’re definitely not temporary. Once snapped together, the connectors lock in solid and are designed to handle vibration and movement. That’s one of the reasons they’re popular in boats (trolling motors) that have lots of movement, and other applications as well (golfcarts etc.). They hold up really well. Most older golfcarts actually use this connection as the main charger port, so that design has been around awhile. The big advantage is that they’re secure during use but still...

  • Simple Way to Hook Up a Battery Maintainer During RV Storage Without Rewiring
Hey Dennis! Yes, there's definitely an easier long-term solution for that battery connection. I'd add a a quick-disconnect which makes connecting and disconnecting much easier. A kit like the Connect-Ease # CE76RR gives you a plug-and-play connection so instead of opening the battery box and attaching clamps or bare wires, you can just wire the charger to the other end of this connector and you can just plug the maintainer in when you need to charge. The quickly unplug when you're done...

  • Can Connect-Ease Quick Connect Kits Be Used On All Battery Setups, Or Just Trolling Motors?
Sam, trolling motors are a big use case, but that’s just one of the popular applications for these battery connect kits. Anywhere you’re tired of loosening battery nuts or messing with clamps, these kits make life easier. I’ve seen them work just as well for chargers, solar inputs, and general accessories. For single-battery setups, the # CE76RR and # CE66RR are especially useful. For multi-battery systems, the 24V (with extra leads) # CE26RR, 24V # CE58RR, and 36V (with extra leads) #...

  • Quick Disconnect Option /for Switching Between Battery Chargers On 12V And 24V Systems
Mike, there's definitely a solution for you. We recently started carrying the Connect-Ease quick-disconnect lineup, which gives you a quick disconnect / quick connect plug so that you’re not constantly moving clamps or redoing ring terminals. If you’re running 2 12v batteries, the 24v series game changer # CE26RR is especially nice since it includes integrated charging leads along with the main supply leads. For 12V setups, the # CE76RR or # CE66RR keeps things simple. Once it’s wired,...

  • Is There A Permanent Disconnect For Battery So I Don't Have To Remove The Battery To Charge It?
Kevin, you’re definitely not alone with that mindset! Luckily, the Connect-Ease kits - from the 12V # CE76RR, up through the 24V # CE26RR and # CE58RR, and the 36V # CE88RR - are designed to eliminate that exact frustration. Once the ring connectors are installed on the batteries studs, the connection stays solid during use but disconnects instantly when you need to pull a battery out or remove the accessory from the battery wiring. That means no loose hardware and no tools needed. It’s...

  • Quick Disconnect Plug For 12V Trolling Motor Battery So I Don't Have To Use Tools And Loosen Any Nut
Kevin, yes - and this is one of those things that sounds like only a slight nuisance until you’ve done it a few times, then it gets very annoying fiddling with it every time. I’ve watched my brother deal with this on his boat, undoing battery nuts every trip just to remove the trolling motor leads, and it gets old fast. For a single 12V setup, the Connect-Ease Pilot 12V kit # CE76RR replaces all of that with a plug-and-play connection. Once it’s installed, disconnecting the motor is just...

  • Quick Way To Connect / Disconnect A 12V Accessory Or charger From Battery
Brian, you’ve got a couple of good options depending on how you plan to use it. If you’re working with a single 12V battery and want a fast disconnect for an accessory, the Connect-Ease Pilot 12V kit # CE76RR and the Quik universal kit # CE66RR both fit that role well. They give you a secure plug connection instead of permanently bolted ring terminals. The # CE76RR also includes smaller charging leads, which can be useful if you’re powering or monitoring additional accessories. The # CE66RR...

  • Is There A Quick Disconnect Battery Harness That Has Another Lead Wire For Charging Or Accessories?
It sure is Evan! The larger gauge wires are typically used for the main load - like a trolling motor or higher-draw accessory - but they can also be used for charging. Kits like the 12V harness # CE76RR, 24V harness # CE26RR, and 36V harness # CE88RR also include smaller leads, which are commonly used for charging or low-draw accessories like a battery monitor or light. I would go with one of these kits. I like setups like this because everything stays organized instead of stacking...

  • Connect-Ease Quick Disconnect Wiring Kit For Battery Maintenance Without Removing Battery Or Nuts
Daniel, absolutely. A lot of people start looking at these because they’re tired of loosening battery terminals or removing the battery for basic maintenance or charging. That’s honestly how I ended up appreciating them myself - just making battery access easier without messing with any tools or wiring. For a single battery, the 12V # CE76RR or 12V/24V/36V # CE66RR works great. For multi-battery setups, the 24V # CE26RR or # CE58RR works great for 2 12V batteries, or the 36V kit # CE88RR...
