Simple Way to Hook Up a Battery Maintainer During RV Storage Without Rewiring

Updated 01/02/2026 | Published 12/30/2025

Question:

I’ve got an RV house battery that I connect to a maintainer when it’s in storage. Is there a way to make that connection easier without rewiring things every season? I usually have to undo the terminal nuts and stick the bare wires in there since the ring terminals came off first year using it. It's 12v battery

Hey Dennis! Yes, there's definitely an easier long-term solution for that battery connection. I'd add a a quick-disconnect which makes connecting and disconnecting much easier. A kit like the Connect-Ease # CE76RR gives you a plug-and-play connection so instead of opening the battery box and attaching clamps or bare wires, you can just wire the charger to the other end of this connector and you can just plug the maintainer in when you need to charge. The quickly unplug when you're done charging. Simple as that.

It’s especially nice if you’re already stacking a few accessories on the battery and don’t want to keep adding ring terminals, which adds resistance/heat. If you happen to need a new maintainer, I'd add the # VX93NR and just cut off the alligator clamps and wire it to the other end of the aforementioned quick disconnect.

Is this a single 12V house battery or part of a larger bank? If it's more than one battery, let me know and I'll find a different harness setup for you! Just let me know sir :).

That sounds perfect. It’s just a single 12V house battery and mostly for winter storage.

@Dennis Nice! Yeah, with a single 12V house battery, the quick-disconnect makes charging about as easy as it gets. Let me know if you end up going with it; I'd be curious to hear about how you like it.
