The larger gauge wires are typically used for the main load - like a trolling motor or higher-draw accessory - but they can also be used for charging. Kits like the 12V harness # CE76RR, 24V harness # CE26RR, and 36V harness # CE88RR also include smaller leads, which are commonly used for charging or low-draw accessories like a battery monitor or light. I would go with one of these kits.
I like setups like this because everything stays organized instead of stacking multiple ring terminals on a single battery post. I need to look into one of these for my solar charging setup I have on my golfcart.
