When you’re switching between different trailers, keeping each one level is key to safe, smooth towing. This mount gives you a full 6" drop or 4-1/2" rise so you can match your trailer height precisely and keep things steady on the road. It’s built for heavy loads with a 20,000-lb gross towing weight and 2,700-lb tongue weight rating, giving you the confidence to haul serious weight without worrying about uneven load handling.
Hauling heavy equipment or large campers demands real strength, not hollow construction. This ball mount is made from solid, forged steel for superior durability that handles demanding towing conditions. The one-piece design keeps flex to a minimum so your trailer tracks straight when loaded down. It’s the kind of heavy-duty gear you can count on run after run.
Road grime, salt, and rain can wear down average finishes, but this mount is protected by a highly durable carbide black powder coat. That corrosion-resistant layer helps it stay clean and solid even after long hauls and repeated use in rough conditions. It’s the kind of finish that holds up season after season without looking tired.
Sometimes a straightforward setup is best. The fixed design of this ball mount means fewer moving parts and less chance of play or rattle while towing. It slides cleanly into your 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" receiver and provides a 1-1/4" ball hole ready for your hitch ball (sold separately). With a 9" distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, it gives you solid clearance and an easy hook-up every time.

How's it going everybody Clayton here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be checking out the Curt Forged Ball Mount for two and a half inch hitches. Now this ball mount is going to be pretty awesome because it's going to be a solid shank. Now, this is what it's going to look like when it's installed on our hitch. And I do suggest picking up a locking pin, you can find those here at etrailer. That's just going to help protect our investment.
This is what our ball mount is going to look like whenever it's not being used in our vehicle. As you can see, it's pretty beefy, and that's good. We're going to get a really high weight capacity. But we'll get into the weight capacity here in just a second. But taking a look at the end of our ball mount, you're going to see that there's no opening.
That's going to be because it's forged out of a solid piece of metal, giving it a lot more strength. A lot of the other ball mounts out there on the market, are going to have an opening back here in the back, and that's just going to be a point of failure, because whenever these start to rust, that's a really good area for that rust to get in there and really corrode our ball mount. So like I said, this ball mount is going to give us a really high weight capacity. As far as towing, we're going to have a 20,000 pound towing capacity. So that's going to be how much the ball mount can actually pull.
We're gonna have a 2,700 pound tongue weight rating. Now chances are that this ball mount is actually gonna be rated a lot higher than your vehicle. So you need to check with your vehicle's owner's manual, and make sure that it's rated to tow at these capacities. If there is a difference, always go with the lowest number between the two. And this weight capacity is going to vary on which ball that you have installed.
Our ball mount isn't going to come with an actual hitch ball, so you will need to pick one up here at etrailer, whether that be two inch or two and five sixteenths. We can now take a closer look at our ball mount. You will notice that the finish is quite a bit different on here than your traditional ball mount. And that's because this is going to be a black carbide finish. And the black carbide is going to hold up to rust and corrosion and a lot better over time, and that's just going to extend the life of our actual ball mount. Now when you do compare that to a lot of other ball mounts or any hitch mounted accessories out there on the market, they're going to use a black powder coat or some sort of powder coating and finish. And powder coating is good, but the problem is when ever that rattles around in a receiver tube opening, it's going to knock off some of that powder coating, creating a place for rust. That's what really is so good about this black carbide. It's just so much more durable, and I really just like the way that it looks. And our ball mount is going to use a standard five eighths pin. So that's really nice because they're very common. And as far as installing our ball mount into our receiver tube opening, it's going to mount just like any other hitch mounted accessory. Simply just slide it in until your pin hole lines up. Our ball mount is going to give us a four inch drop. That's going to be four inches from the top of the ball mount here, down to the platform. This is very important for whenever you're pulling a trailer because you want that trailer as level as possible. So you just want to make sure that the four inch drop is going to be appropriate for your trailer. And if you do need to use this in the rise position, we are going to get a two and a half inch rise. And another important dimension of our ball mount, is going to be from our pin hole opening to the center of our ball. And in this case, it's going to be eight and a half inches. You just want to keep that number in mind if you're using it on anything that has a bumper that kind of hangs over, just so you know you have enough ground clearance. And as far as the dimensions on the ball, you're just going to need to pick up a ball that has an inch and a quarter shank. That way, it fits nicely into the platform of our ball mount. You can find a whole lot of options here at etrailer. This is going to be a great option for you guys that are pulling the same trailer all the time. A lot of the adjustable ball mounts out there have a lot of moving pieces, a lot of things to lose or break. So if you do happen to be pulling the same trailer, this is probably going to be the best option for you. And with our coupler locked down, we're now ready to hit the road. That's going to do it for our look at the Curt Forged Ball Mount for two and a half inch hitches..

I have ordered many many items from etrailer over the years and they never disappoint.
Great service, fast delivery and Great pricing. Cant ask for more.
Looks well made and very heavy duty. Like the description indicates, forged so no welds. Also, solid shank, not hollow. Only bummer is that it is not made in the USA.
I was so impressed with the 4” drop mount, that I bought this 6” drop mount for my open trailer. Very heavy duty piece, very dense, and the weight of the unit makes me comfortable that it will be plenty strong.
Received ball mount in two days but have not used. I have the exact type with 2" drop - never had problems.
When I called etrailer.com about price matching they was friendly and did as price match policy states.
Always great service!!!!
Solid metal,exactly what I wanted
This is the real deal and perfect for towing heavy loads for Super Duty 250 and 350 capicities.
Solid Forged Steel and I feel sorry for ever who runs into the back of the truck.
I added a pair of coupling links for easier connecting of the safety chains.
It looks incredible on the vehicle and it is where it belongs on the Super Duty line up of trucks.
I highly recommend this hitch for any working professional who is the towing business and needs the best of the best equipment.
