Features to know about

Made for a Clean Look: Hidden Base Plate with Removable Arms

When you’re not towing, you don’t have to live with bulky brackets up front. The EZ Base Plate Kit uses a hidden design that tucks neatly into the frame, leaving the front end clean and uncluttered. Once the arms are removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible and stay protected behind the grille from scrapes and scuffs. It’s a setup that keeps things looking factory-fresh when you’re not hitched up.

Hook Up Fast: Twist-Lock Arms with No Pins or Clips

Getting ready to tow is simple with the EZ Twist-Lock system. Just insert each removable arm, twist, and it locks securely into place—no pins or clips to fumble with. When you’re done towing, twist again and pull them out. The motion is smooth and quick, so connecting or disconnecting takes only moments whether you’re in your driveway or on the road.

Built Strong for the Long Haul: All-Steel Construction and Powder Coat Finish

The computer-cut, all-steel build gives this kit solid strength for serious towing duty. Every piece fits together precisely to keep loads even and stable while you roll. The black powder coat finish fights off corrosion and road wear, so you get reliable performance trip after trip without worrying about rust or fading hardware.

Bolt-On Confidence: Custom Fit with No Welding Required

This kit mounts directly to the frame points for a strong foundation without any welding. Each base plate is custom-cut for an exact fit, which helps make installation straightforward with standard tools. The included mounting hardware and instructions cover what you need so you can get it installed right and ready to tow without extra fabrication work.

Compatible by Design: Works with Roadmaster Tow Bars and Quick Disconnects

You don’t need a special setup to make it all work together. The EZ Base Plate Kit is compatible with Quick Disconnects and all Roadmaster tow bars, so you can keep your existing gear in play. It’s designed to integrate smoothly with supported accessories, giving you flexibility to build out your towing setup exactly how you want it.

Quality is excellent, prompt delivery, all parts and instructions supplied. However I will not be installing until next spring.

by:

Have used this several times to flat tow my Miata with no problems whatsoever!!

by:

Very heavy duty. Much more than needed for my application but better more than less.
Heavy duty also means heavy in weight. Not easy to lift and move.

by:

I place m’y order and received it as plan .Plus amazing follows till I removed all my parts

by:

etrailer has always impressed me! The items are nicely priced and quickly shipped. Support is fantastic...When you have a technical question, the techs at etrailer are easy to reach and knowledgable. I have been a fan for many years...Thank you etrailer.

by:

The installation was not difficult, but one bolt on each side for the bumper core did not have enough room to get threaded. I had to cut about a 1/4 inch from the base plate to allow the bolts enough room. I am also a little concerned about the extensive trimming on the belly pan. You lose 4 mounting points when you trim the shroud. I made a support bracket for each side to better support the plastic shroud.

by:

I have a 2015 miata this baseplate was for a 2011, Roadmaster says it doesn't fit the 2015. It fits great just requires you to drill two additional holes through the the baseplate brackets. Of course it would have been nice to know beforehand.

by:

An involved but not overly complicated install process on my 2011 Mazda Miata. The removable plates rub on the bottom of the grill (in addition to the holes you will need to cut out for the tubes), and the splash guard needs to be trimmed to accommodate the mounting plates, but overall the installation is not as gruesome as it sounds, as long as you use some finesse. The linkage on all pieces feel really solid and it tows very well.

by:

After checking and verifying with Kelsey what my 2006 Mazda Miata needed for tow plates, I ordered and in a very few days, it arrived at my doorstep. They also did a great job for my 2018 Jeep Cherokee, which I am towing behind my RV now. They have the most knowledgeable folks to help to get the correct parts and if you find a price lower, they will refund the difference. I can't think of any other Company that does that. This Company is my only go-to place for anything towing related. Here is a picture of my installed BlueOx base plates on my Jeep and will update as soon as I get the Miata installed, and get a picture of that also.

by:

This baseplate kit works great. I like the removeable arms. It is challenging to install on the 2006-2015 Miata as you have to cut your grill openings for the arms and you have to modify the plastic covers under the car to get everything to fit. That said, it fits well and works great.

by:

2007 MX5
The build quality was good....welds
were well done....paint was good
Instructions were pretty thorough.
Lots of trimming away of the splash shield for this install!!
Oh well...no choice I guess.

  • How to Fit 2010 Mazda MX-5 Miata Roadmaster Base Plate Kit with Blue Ox Tow Bar
Hey Glenn, thanks for reaching out! The Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit # 52728-1 that fits your 2010 Mazda MX-5 Miata won't be compatible with the Blue Ox Base Plate tab you have. Since it sounds like you already have a Blue Ox tow bar, I recommend picking up the Roadmaster Base Plate Adapter Bracket # RM-032 so you can then use your existing tow bar with the Roadmaster base plate kit.

  • Recreational Towing Base Plates for 2012 Mazda MX-5 Miata
I've spoken with my contact in the engineering department at Roadmaster. She tells me that there was a change in the bumper fascia for the 2012 model year of the MX-5 Miata. The # 52728-1 base plate WILL install on the 2012 model, but there is a great deal of trimming that needs to be done to the bumper fascia, which affected the appearance of the vehicle. Because of that, Roadmaster decided not to carry over the base plate to the 2012 and later models. I'll link you to some of our Flat...

  • Towbar and Equipment for Flat Towing 2011 Mazda Miata MX-5
As a first step, you'll want to determine if your vehicle is capable of being flat towed. According to information I found in the owner's manual, Mazda doesn't recommend flat towing your vehicle, they recommend trailering the vehicle. I'd recommend you confirm this for yourself by consulting your owner's manual or Mazda Dealer to determine what modifications would need to be preformed to the vehicle in order to flat tow it safely. If you should determine it wouldn't harm your vehicle to...
