When you’re not towing, you can keep the front end looking clean. The hidden design leaves no bulky brackets sticking out once the arms are removed, and the included receiver covers plug into the openings to keep dirt and debris out. The removable arms twist off in seconds, so you won’t be bumping your legs on anything protruding when walking past the bumper.
The arms slide into the receivers, twist to lock in place, and secure with a simple pull pin. It’s an easy setup that makes connecting or disconnecting straightforward even if you’re doing it alone. The distance between brackets is 18-1/2" and bracket height is 21-1/2", so you can plan other components in your towing setup accordingly.
This base plate bolts directly to the chassis with included mounting hardware—no welding needed. Its sturdy design helps distribute towing forces evenly across the frame to reduce stress on suspension parts during long-distance hauls. The durable steel construction is powder coated to resist rust and corrosion over time.
Already have a tow bar you trust? This base plate pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure fit. If you’re using a Roadmaster or Demco tow bar, it easily adapts with the proper adapter—RM-031 or RM-031-5 for Roadmaster, DM9523041 for Demco (sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to add an electrical connector bracket up front so your wiring stays organized and within reach.
Everything bolts up cleanly using the provided hardware. The design follows factory mounting points for a solid fit without any welding. Once installed, you get a sturdy connection that’s built to last through miles of towing without fuss.

Well the blue ox base plate actually fits my turbo engine. The Curt didn't fit as advertised.
Super high quality baseplate for towing by Blue Ox. Instructions, videos, shipping (one day!) and overall experience was awesome. A bit pricey but their quality and the additional support by E Trailer cannot be beat! BTW (E Trailer) the baseplate fits three different Jeep configurations but did not call out the Recon package. After looking at other brands which showed there's to fit the 3 variations AND the Recon, I figured it would fit and it DID. You should definitely upgrade to include the Recon Edition.
I got a used set for a great price and it worked out well. my only caution is that some of the holes in my 2008 2500 suburban had to be drilled to 9/16 due to misalignment with the tapped holes in the brackets. This minor adjustment made it all go togehter easily though. Be aware, you won't have tow hooks anymore if that is something you use a lot.

We installed the baseplate on our 2023 Encore GX AWD as well as the light harness and breakaway switch. A couple of items were incorrect but Royce corrected the issues with no problems.

2019 Ford Ranger baseplate worked and fitted fine for me. 73 yrs old took me a couple hours but took many breaks. Younger could do it less than hour I'm sure.
Also works fine with my Blue Ox tow bar.
I looked into every brand/model available and this was the beefiest. There is cutting and trimming required on all brands, so why not get the strongest? If you're slightly handy with a toolbox, you can easily do the install yourself and save thousands.

this is the second base plate from etrailer and EVERYTHING was GREAT dealing with yall.
The install on a 2009 Saturn Vue XR was relatively easy following the included directions, in all it took approximately 7 hours over two days, from taking the facade off to putting it back on. The hardest part was placing the nuts, on welded wire, into position in the opened up vehicle frame.
This is my second order from etrailer in 30 days and all was right on time. Even when there was a little delay due to the manufacturer, etrailer communicated with me extreme well.

Thanks for the follow-up. I have used blue ox towing for about 10 years nowand wouldnt consider another brand.
