Question:

Will the Blue Ox tow bar Alpha? work correctly with Blue Ox base plate #3332. Specs call for smaller tow bar but I want wider weight range tow bar for heavier vehicles than just 2008 Saturn Vue XR

For your 2008 Saturn Vue XR, the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX3332 is a confirmed fit. I've linked a video to a 2013 Captiva which will install in the same way. These base plates will work well with the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar # BX7380 you referenced, and in fact that is my recommendation for your application.

If you are looking to complete your flat tow system on your Vue, I also recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This will give you a clean connection and allow you to utilize your Vue's factory wiring while protecting your electronics. You will also need the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass - 13" - 20-Amp Mini-Fuse # RM76511 that allows you to prep for towing your Vue with the simple flip of a switch.

For your supplemental braking system, I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251 which will also require the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit - Saturn Vue # RM-751425. This will be a great option that once installed becomes a simply plug and play with no further adjustment needed. I've attached this installation on the same year vehicle to assist.

The final thing you need is a high-low adapter. To determine your specific need, I have attached an article to help you with measurements and have also linked the page to your options for your convenience.
