Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the etrailer 2-3/4" Rise or 4" Drop Ball Mount Kit

Today were going to review part number EBMK4, this is the Etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2-inch hitch receivers. This ball mount kit will include one ball mount, it will include a pin and a clip; it will include Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball System that comes with a 1 7/8-inch hitch ball head and a 2-inch hitch ball head. It will also the Etrailer.com ball mount bag. This kit will be nice to use when youre going to be towing multiple trailers that might have a different coupler size on them.Im going to start with the ball mount. Basically the part number is 2753. And this ball mount will have a 2 -inch rise or a 4-inch drop depending on how you use it. What Im going to do is measure it for you and give you an idea.

This is in the drop position so the measurement would be here to here; the top of this to the top of where the ball sits. So if we put a tape on that, it would measure 4-inch drop. Now if we put a tape on that, it would measure 4-inch drop. Now if you put it in the other way, that will give you a 2 -inch rise which is measured from here to here. So if we measure that it would be 2 of an inch.

Now this ball mount does have a gross towing weight capacity of 6,000 and has a tongue weight capacity of 600 pounds. It also comes with part number PC3 which is a 5/8-inch diameter pin and the clip that would be used to attach the ball mount to the hitch receiver. This would slide into your hitch receiver, you line the holes up, run your pin through, put the clip on; that will keep your ball mount inserted into your hitch receiver.Next item is the converti-ball interchangeable ball system and what that would be is this would mount onto the ball mount using the included washer and nut. The size of this nut is 1 inches. That would tighten down to your ball mount and notice theres a hole through it, you would slide the cotter in through that hole, spread it apart and that would be a safety feature in case that nut happen to back off and keep it from falling off the shank.

Now this shank with the ball attached will have a gross tongue weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. And Im going to give you a few dimensions on the shank. The diameter of the shank which is right here will 1 inch. The length which is from here to here will measure 2 inches. And then this would be, its stamped on top, is the 1 7/8 hitch ball diameter size and this stamped on top would be 2-inch diameter hitch ball size.

And basically the way this would be installed, this has an integrated pin in the ball which what you would do is find the side that has a dimple on it and just push that side and it will allow you to pull this pin all the way out and what youll do is line it up to the shank the hole in the shank push your pin all the way through until its flush and then youll have a 1 7/8-inch hitch ball on your shank. Now if you end up having to tow a different trailer with a larger hitch ball size like a 2-inch, you just remove that, take the 2-inch one, push on the side with the dimple, line it up with the hole, push it all the way until its flush, now you have a 2-inch hitch ball. So in a few seconds you went from a 1 7/8 to a 2-inch.Now the last item I want to talk about is the Etrailer.com Ball Mount Bag part number ETBMB. This durable bag will work great not only for ball mounts but for all your towing equipments such as tie down straps, pins, clips, locks. It has a strong handle, makes it easy to carry and it has a large zipper opening that runs the length of the bag which makes it easier to insert the ball mounts and other large items into the bag. It is made of a durable nylon construction which will provide many years of use. The zipper is a no-hassle zipper closure. It has the handle for transportation and Ill give you a few dimensions on the bag. The overall length will be 16 inches. The height on this bag would be 5 inches and the width on the bag would be 4 inches. And that should do it for part number EBMK4.

  • Comparing the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75600 and the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13077 for a 2015 BMW X5
Although the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75600, and the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 13077, are both great hitches that both have a 6,000 lb max Gross Trailer Weight and a 600 lb max Tongue Weight, I recommend going with the Draw-Tite # 75600. The reason that I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75600 over the Curt # 13077 is because the Curt hitch requires that you use a stabilization strap, like part # 18050, for any non-trailer loads like bike racks and cargo carriers per the Curt warranty....

There is a Draw Tite hitch available for your 2000 Ford F-150, but the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75096 that you referenced is designed to fit Ford Explorers and would not work for you. For your vehicle I would recommend the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75740. This hitch is compatible with your full sized spare too. I attached a picture of this hitch installed with the full sized spare in place as well as an install video and installation instructions for you to check out. To complete your towing...

For your 2018 BMW X3, we have a couple different hitch options. We have the Draw-Tite # 76226 and the Curt # C13387. Both install in the same manner, so I have attached a couple photos to help you with the installed appearance. Either of these options will work well with a bike rack or other accessory. If you will be using this hitch for light towing, I also recommend the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT,...

I have a perfect solution for installing a brake controller on your 2022 Kia Telluride! Since you don't have any wiring, we will need to start from scratch, but thankfully there are plug-in 4-Way options and I recommend going with the Curt T-Connector # CU94FR because it's the most reliable. • Why is the Rise Measurement Different From the Drop Measurement on Ball Mounts
The reason why ball mounts like the # EBMK4 have a different rise and drop measurement is because of the way they are measured. Rise is the distance from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform when the ball mount is oriented for greater coupler height. Drop is the distance from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform when the ball mount is oriented for lower coupler height. Both are measured from the top of the shank. The reason for this is because you use the...

  • What Does Weight Distribution Mean when Selecting a Trailer Hitch for a 2011 Ford F-150
Trailer hitches are rated in two ways. The most common rating is weight carrying. This rating is for towing a trailer with a standard ball mount that transfers all of the trailer tongue weight to the towing vehicle. The second rating is weight distribution. A weight distribution system is used to reduce sag at the back of the vehicle when a trailer is attached and to transfer the tongue weight of the trailer to the vehicle and trailer axles, making the hitch capable of higher trailer towing...

I may have a solution for you to add a hitch, but there is not a hitch with a 10,000-lbs capacity for the 2016 Ford Transit T350 with dual rear wheels. With that said, it appears that the towing capacity of the T350 is only 5200-lbs, so you would be limited to that since the vehicle has a lower towing capacity than the hitch.
