  • Can The Curt Ball Mount C45042 Be Used In The Rise Position?
Hello Mel, thanks for reaching out. The Curt Ball Mount # C45042 does come with the ball pre-torqued in the drop position. You can remove the ball and flip it over to use it in the rise position, but you would need a torque wrench and a 1" lock nut in order to do this. Since it comes pre-torqued this one is generally only used in the drop position. If you want something not pre-torqued, use the # C45270 ball mount and the # 40038 ball.

  • Options for a 2 Inch Ball Mount that Comes with a 2-5/16 Inch Ball
The ball mounts that have a ball welded on are all either 2 inch or 1-7/8 inch diameter balls. We have some ball mounts that come with a 2-5/16 inch ball bolted on: # C45331 # C45332 # C45041 # C45042

  • Measuring for Correct Ball Mount on 2017 Chevy Colorado
Based on your measurements you are looking for a 4-1/4 or 4 inch drop for your ball mount. I've attached an article to assist. If you want a fixed mount ball mount, I recommend the4 Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2" Ball - 4" Drop - 7,500 lbs # C45056 if your trailer has a 2 inch ball coupler. If the coupler fits a 2-5/16 inch ball, then I recommend # C45042 instead. These will work well for towing 7,500 lbs with a 750 lbs tongue weight. Anything beyond that should use a weight distribution...

  • Ball Mount with 2 Inch Rise and Ball Already Installed in Rise Position
The Curt ball mount # C45042 only comes with the ball torqued into the drop position but we do have part # C45155. This has the ball in the rise position and it's a 2-1/4 inch rise but it's only a 2 inch ball not a 2-5/16 inch. If you need a 2-5/16 inch ball you'll need to move the ball on part # C45042.

  • Towing Capacity and Parts Needed To Tow with a 2016 Ford Escape
The trailer hitch I recommend for a 2016 Ford Escape is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98866. This hitch has a bolt-on fit with no cutting or drilling required. It will also work with the hands free liftgate feature if equipped. This hitch has the larger 2" receiver which I recommend due to the greater variety of accessories. In order to complete your setup you'll also need a trailer wiring harness for which I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole...

  • Curt Ball Mount and Hitch Receiver Lock
Yes, I can confirm that all of those parts do fit together. The Coupler Pin - 5/16" x 2-1/2" item # 37201051 will be loose inside that ball mount though. You will get quite a bit of play. The hole in the Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2-5/16" Ball - 2" Rise or 4" Drop - 7,500 lbs item # C45042 accepts a 5/8" pin. I recommend purchasing a Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock - 2" Hitches - Chrome item # C72KR. This will secure your ball mount inside your hitches receiver and keep it from being...

  • Recommended Curt Ball Mount without Hitch Ball with 4 Inch Drop and 7,500 Pound Capacity
The Curt Class III Ball Mount # C45042 referenced in your question includes a pre-torqued 2-5/16 inch hitch ball. This exact ball mount is not available from the manufacturer without the hitch ball, but I do have an option that should work well. I recommend taking a look at the Curt Ball Mount # C45154. This 2 inch ball mount features a drop of 3-3/4 inches or a rise of 2-1/2 inches. It features the same 7,500 pound towing capacity as the Curt unit you were looking at but also has a nice...

  • Best 2 3/8 Ball Hitch Recommandation
The standard sizes of balls that are available are going to be 1 7/8" , 2" and 2 5/16". We do not carry or have I ever seen a 2 3/8" ball. I would remeasure since there is only a 1/16" difference between 2 5/16" and 2 3/8" it might just be a mistaken identity. If you do discover it is a 2 5/16" ball the one you looked at Buyers Products Tri-Ball Hitch part # 3371802200 is a good choice if your trailer tongue when sitting level is even with your receiver tube opening. If it is lower you'll...

  • Is Hitch Ball Included with Curt Class III Ball Mount # C45042
The Curt Class III Ball Mount # C45042 referenced in your question does indeed include the 2-5/16 inch hitch ball that is actually pre-torqued to the platform. The ball mount and hitch ball have a gross towing capacity of 7,500 pounds and a drop of 4 inches. I have attached a short video demonstration on this product that you can also check out.

  • Recommended Ball Mount with 4 Inch Drop and 10,000 Pound Towing Capacity
The Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2-5/16 Inch Ball # C45042 referenced in your question has a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. For a ball mount that will provide the same 4 inch drop and give you a 10,000 pound capacity, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 40202. This sturdy steel ball mount is compatible with 2 inch hitch receivers and also features a tongue weight of 1,000 pounds. You will just need to add a compatible 2-5/16 inch hitch ball like # 19286. I have attached a short...

Curt has a ball mount with a 2 inch rise that fits a 2 inch hitch that has a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball that comes with it with the part # C45042 but the ball is installed in the drop position. You'd have to remove the ball and reinstall it in the rise position.

  • Recommended Locking Hitch Pin to use with the Curt Class III Ball Mount # C45042
If you are just looking for a locking hitch pin to use with the Curt Class III Ball Mount # C45042 then I recommend going with the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880. I do recommend using a locking hitch pin that has an anti-rattle feature as well. The Let's Go Aero Lock # 63232 will work with the Curt ball mount and will provide a lock as well as a part of the hitch pin that will help to keep the ball mount from rattling inside your hitch receiver.
