Video Transcript for What to Know About the Blue Ox Adjustable 2-Ball Mount

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at Etrailer, and today we'll be taking a look at the Blue Ox two ball adjustable ball mount. This is going to be for your two inch hitches, and it has a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds. So this is gonna be a small, compact, but still adjustable, ball mount. So that's ideal. If you don't need that much of a range you just wanna switch between the different balls, or get a rise and a drop quickly and easily. It has a two inch hitch ball.

This one can tow up to 8,000 pounds. And then for your capacity with a two and 5/16, that bumps up to 10,000 pounds of towing capacity. This gives you some different heights, and you do have increments of an inch in between. So there's 1, 2, 3, 4 holes. So if you need to switch around the balls or you need to get a different height adjustment, you just take out that pin and clip, move this up, or move this down, or even flip this right around to the two inch ball, and then pop that pin right back in, and clip it into place.

So you have this black powder coat finish on the ball mount and that can help prevent corrosion. But then you also have this zinc coating on the ball. So ideally you wanna have a level connection between your ball mounts and your trailer coupler. So that means you may need a different rise or drop, depending on that situation. So for rise and drop, we like to measure from the inside edge of your hitch receivers.

So right there. And then if you need a rise, or a drop, you can adjust your ball mounts appropriately. So just like how you flipped the hitch balls around, you can flip the ball mounts around. So you do have a five eighth pin and a clip. The hitch does not lock with the included tools.

So I do recommend getting the etrailer locking hitch pin, if you wanna upgrade that. Now we just flipped that right around. Line up the hitch pin holes right there, pop that pin right back in, put the clip on and just like that, you converted this from a drop to the rise position. The maximum rise is gonna be three and three quarter inches. The maximum drop is going to be three and three quarter inches. So that short range is ideal if you don't need as much range and you just want a smaller or more compact but still adjustable ball mount. Now Blue Ox has adjustable ball mounts that give you more of a range, if needed, so take those measurements and double check before you get one for you. Yeah, this heavy duty steel construction throughout the ball mount and you have this anti rattle design, so notice how well it fits into that channel. That's to reduce the rattle. There will still be a little bit of movement though, mainly because of your pin and clip. Also, we do have a two and a half inch reducer, so it's nice to know that that pin and clip still fit no matter what hitch size you have. So for a ball mount that is still compact that gives you a little bit of adjust stability. This works out great. Now a similar option you might find here at etrailer is the curt two ball adjustable ball mount. They are similar when it comes to design, as well as the price point. They also have the zinc coating and the two different ball sizes. One small difference is gonna be the range of height when it comes to rise as well as the drop.
