Video Transcript for Storage Bag for Thule Epos 2-Bike Racks Spec Review

Hey, everybody. Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the storage bags for the Thule Epos, both the two bike and the three bike version. So if you do have the Epos and you know that there are going to be times and periods where you're not going to be using it as much, such as like maybe the off season for bike riding, the Epos does fold up, which makes it a very easy storage. But with this bag we can make it a bit safer storage. Either if you have the two or three bike version and whether you have the lights or not, the bags are all going to fit the same.

They do have a nice padding on our, some of the sides of the bags, which just help with that extra protection, especially if you do have the light version. You wanna make sure that not only your bike rack stays safe, but all of that wiring and lights, too. The two and three bike are going to be very similar in a lot of ways. So looking here at the two bike one, we do have a opening here at the top which allows us to grab the Epos and carrying it. And then there is a strap on the bag for additional support essentially if you need that while carrying it.

And the wheels are left exposed, which is really nice. So if you do need to roll it into some of those tight spots or spaces in your garage, we do have that availability with the bag attached. The bags for the two and three are going to be very similar, so we're just gonna go ahead and take a look at the two real quick. There is a opening up top here for the handle so if you did want to carry your Epos, you can still do that with the bag, and with the bag on there is this nice supporting strap, too, so it does kind of help distribute some of the weight a little bit easier. There are cutouts on the bottom here for the wheels so if you need to wheel it around and find yourself wanting to go in some of those tighter spaces, maybe in your garage, you can very easily still do that.

There's a (indistinct) zipper on both sides of the bag that once you undo it is very easy to take the Epos out essentially just kinda like a shell and just kinda folds right out and we've got pick up and it's that easy to take it out. With the Epos out, we can take a little bit closer look at the bag. The outside is going to be made of a pretty light canvas material while the inside is going to be a lot smoother and scratch resistant so that way we don't cause any unnecessary damage to our Epos. We talked about padding a little bit earlier. The whole entire backside here is padded from the top to the bottom.

The top is going to be padded, as well, and the sides are going to have padding essentially on the bottom half of it. But the side with the zipper up here is going to be just that canvas material. And as we come down here, we can see that there is a small piece of canvas here on the bottom of our storage bag, but it does not have any of that additional padding. Now, in order to load the Epos back into the bag, I find it a little bit more cumbersome and awkward to do, especially if you're by yourself, because of this bottom padding here. When you're loading it in, you have to make sure that you get the wheels all the way to the back, which you might not be able to do on your first lift, and it's just a little bit awkward. I almost wish that that bottom panel didn't exist because then you could essentially kind of more like a blanket or a sleeve just drape it over the Epos and it would be a lot easier for the storage process. But the only thing with that is the fact that because of that bottom paneling, we can essentially use this as a secondary holding spot. If it didn't have that bottom padding, it would just slide right off. But the trade-off for that I think would be all right because mainly you're using this for storage anyways and you can still use the wheels even if this was a cover, since we have the hole here at the top. Coming over to the three bike bag, it is going to be similar in a lot of those ways. All the padding spots are going to be the same. We still have this front handle, those diagonal zippers. The only main big difference is going to be obviously the overall length of the bag and that there are two cutout handles since there are two handle spots for the Thule Epos 3. Now, if you do have a workbench or some sort of small area, what's really nice about these bags is you're able to essentially fit it in a small area for the off season, and then when it's the on season, you can essentially kinda pull it out from that small storage area. Storing it like this does have a really big benefit. That way you can store things next to it. And that's also why having some of that side padding is pretty important. Overall, I do think that the Thule Epos lends itself to storage pretty nicely. The fact that it holds up whenever it's not in your hitch means that storage is very easy. I think that adding the bag to that is just the next additional step, essentially, adding a little bit more security to that storage. The padding all around it makes it pretty protected, in my opinion. And what's really nice is Thule makes it very simple. There's a two bike version and a three bike version. You don't have to worry about if you have lights or not and even if you have the no light kit and decide to upgrade the lights later, you don't have to buy an additional bag. It still works whichever Thule Epos you have. Well, if you like everything you just saw here today, this was just a quick look at the storage bag for the Thule Epos. My name's Cooper and thanks for watching.
