Can the Bulldog Cast Head Coupler w/ Wedge Latch Be Adjusted
Updated 06/30/2020 | Published 06/28/2020 >
Question:
I have one like it on a 14000 lb Big Tex trailer, and I would like to replace the coupler. It fits on a 2 5/16 ball, that I have to fight with every time I use it, as it does not want to easily release. Ive never had a trailer that was so hard to unhitch! I like the type of hitch, but No adjustment?

The Bulldog Cast Head Coupler w/ Wedge Latch part # BDA256C0317 and others like it do not have any adjustment. They are set at the factory and sealed off basically from there. There can be slight variances in them when manufactured or there is the chance that the coupler itself was deformed slightly before you ever received it.
When working with customers this does not seem to be an issue that seems to come up a lot or is persistent. I'm confident that by replacing it you will have less issues with the use of the trailer.
