  Hey Larry! The Reese Friction Sway Control Kit item # 83660 attaches to ball mounts like item # D320. There's no welding. We have a couple of other options like the Sway Control 2-Ball Platform for BulletProof Hitches Ball Mount item # 358SWAYCONTROLBALL. However, these are all specific to the manufacturer of the ball mount. This is limited to 10,000lbs when used with 2" ball or 14,000lbs when used with 2-5/16" ball and would be their medium duty mount. Since you have the 36k ball mount you'll want the heavy duty version # 358SWAYCONTROLBALL, which has a 12,000lb/36,000lb capacity.

So the main cause of persistent trailer sway is not enough tongue weigh relative to the total trailer weight (needs to be between 10 and 15 percent of total trailer weight). Or, it can be that the trailer is sitting nose high which that can be solved by using a ball mount with more drop.
