Hitch, Wiring, and Brake Controller for 2022 Toyota Highlander Towing Casita Camper
Question:
Hello, I have a 2022 Toyota Highlander and just purchased a Casita 17foot camper so I need several items that Id like to purchase from you and have my local shop install for me but I am unsure exactly what I need. First, I need a Class III hitch with a 400-500 lb tongue load. Second, I need 7-circuit round wiring. My Highlander does not have any trailer wiring installed currently but I believe it has the connections ready behind the rear bumper, I think? Lastly, I would like include the Curt Echo wireless brake controller. The two attached photos are the available connections I can find. Ive spent a lot of time on your site and want top make sure Im purchasing the right components. Appreciate your help! Eric

Hi Eric, congratulations on the new camper! Starting with a hitch I recommend the etrailer # e75ZR. This is a Class III hitch with a 500 lb max tongue weight and a bolt-on installation. It has a concealed cross tube for a nice clean look and also features a matte black finish.
For wiring, you need to start by adding the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # TK99FR. This gives you a 4-way to power signal lights. Then you need the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation # ETBC7L to upgrade to a 7-way. This does not come with the brake output wire since it is specifically designed for brake controllers like the Echo # C51180. If you need a ball mount to complete your setup, check out the etrailer Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # e66PR.
It sounds like you have a shop picked out already but I went ahead and attached our installer locator link further down on this page if you need it. If you have any other questions feel free to reply below.
