Solution for 2024 Keystone Montana High Country 295RL that Sits Nose High

Updated 09/03/2024 | Published 08/21/2024

Question:

HI there, I have a 2024 Keystone Montana High Country 295rl, I can not find the pin box number. It appears to be the Lippert Trail-air Road Armor which may now be Curt Roto-Flex with the 1116 bolt pattern, two rows of three bolts on each side 2.5inch apart top to bottom center to center. My camper is riding nose high 8inch above rails at the pin and not level so I am thinking about raising the pin box to the top upper row of holes currently in the lower set of holes and adding this air ride replacement at the same time. My question is: what is the measurement from the top row of bolt holes to the plate where the pin is that rides on the plate of the hitch? The current measurement is 9inch from the top row of bolt holes to the bottom of the pin box plate above the pin itself. I am trying to calculate the height the camper will safely ride over the truck bed rails be upgrading the pin box. My truck is a 2023 Ram Laramie 3500 with the factory Ram curt I think fifth wheel hitch with factory puck prep package. The camper is tongue heavy but doesnt sag the truck much when loaded, maybe an inch. Im exploring pin box fifth wheel/gooseneck options .Thank you!

Hey Michael, so the Curt Trailair part # LC155943 that you referenced was not designed to offer a different ride height from the pin boxes it replaces so it would not be the way to go if you were wanting to make a height adjustment. What I would do is try the higher mounting bolts like you mentioned and see if that gets your trailer level while also keeping at least 6 inches of clearance between the bed rails and the trailer overhang.

If that still does not fix the problem then you'd need to go with a lift kit for your trailer which we have with the Correct Track # RR23QX. This will give you a lift of 2-1/4 inches which will allow the trailer to sit more level.

Thanks Jameson, I am considering moving the pin box to the upper holes. That is why I asked for the measurement from the upper holes to the bottom of the hitch plate on LC155943 as I am considering upgrading the pin box at the same time and want to make the best decision. If you do not have this information, just let me know. Thanks

@Michael It's roughly the same dimension as the pin box you have now as it was designed to be an exact replacement dimensionally but since the lower plate moves since it's shock absorbing and will be based on the air pressure you put in the unit an exact figure won't be perfect.

Thanks Jameson, I may be interested in the Lippert (Curt) Helux pin box when it becomes available. Hopefully, etrailer will be offering these. At that time, I would like explore the options in sizes and dimensions, etc., to hopefully fit my Lippert 1116 wings. thanks

HI Jameson, I've been doing more research, Been looking at the Reese Towpower fifth wheel Airboure Pin Box. model 94420. According to their website it is compatible with the 1116 pin box wings which I have but requires the spacer kit. This may meet the needs of my height concerns and add some air cushioning which I am also looking for. Can you confirm this will work and be compatible with my Ram factory fifth wheel hitch which I believe is made by Curt? Thanks
