Reverse Lights on 2006 Volkswagen Touareg Blink With Curt 7-Way LED Trailer Light Adapter # C57003
Question:
I purchased the Curt LED Adapter C57003 for use with my 2006 VW Touareg w/ a travel trailer equipped w/ LED trailer lights. The adapter seemed to solve the blinking brake lights/running lights, but I noticed the white reverse lights still blink when the car is not in use. Did the Curt adapter not account for a resistor to fix the backup lights? Any recommendations?

According to my technical contact at Curt if the reverse lights on the your trailer are blinking even with the tow vehicle off, the most likely cause is a problem in the trailer's connector. Take a close look at the contacts on your trailer's 7-way plug to check for the possibility of a loose wire and/or corrosion on the contacts. A badly corroded plug could cause two circuits to be bridged together and this could lead to current reaching the pin for the reverse lights.
The linked article will help as it includes photos and troubleshooting tips.
You can also disconnect the trailer and the Curt LED adapter from your Touareg to verify that its lighting functions are all operating normally.
