Hi Eric,

The first step to adding brakes to a trailer is to check if your axle has a brake flange to mount the brake assemblies to. If your axle doesn't have a brake flange then you'll have to replace the axle with one that does. Assuming yours does the next step is to mount brake assemblies # AKEBRK-35-SA to the flange.

To find the correct hub/drum for your spindle we'll need to know the bearing/grease seal part numbers. You can remove the current hub and check to see if the part numbers are still stamped into them or you can use a digital caliper to measure your spindle at points B, C, and D from the diagram below to get the inner diameters. I'll also need to know your wheel bolt pattern so I can ensure the wheels will still fit.

You'll then need to run 10awg wire from the brake assemblies up to a junction box and 7-way # e99011. You'll also need to install a breakaway battery and breakaway switch # PS50-85-320. Then you'll just need to have a brake controller installed in your tow vehicle. If you need help picking out a brake controller then let me know the year/make/model of your vehicle.
