Question:

Questions about CURT 11412 with Kuat Sherpa 2.0 1 1/4 ?SH12G: 1. Will the rack work with bike with fenders and rear rack ? 2. Is the Sherpa 2.0 better than Transfer 2.0 2-bike, or Transfer 1-bike with an extension for a second bike? 3. If rack will be used with one bike most of the time, is a 1-bike rack better than Sherpa 2.0 and attach an extension for when carrying two bikes?

The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # SH12G has hooks that would interfere with fenders since they have to sit right up against the forks. The Kuat Transfer V2 for 2 bikes # KU84FR and 1 bike # KU64FR would both have the same issues. You'd be better off with a frame-mount style bike rack like the Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH92BJ.

This bike rack has cradles with straps to secure the wheels and padded ratcheting hooks to secure the frame, completely avoiding the fenders and rear rack. The shank comes with a removable collar making it compatible with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches so you'll have more versatility on which vehicles you can haul your bikes on. It has a 35lb per bike capacity and can handle tires up to 5" wide. It also includes an anti-rattle locking hitch pin to help prevent the bike rack from rattling in the hitch. This hitch pin lock along with the locks in the ratcheting hooks will prevent anyone from walking off with your bikes or bike rack.

I actually own this rack myself because it checks so many boxes for versatility and doesn't break the bank. It's lightweight and folds up for storage or down so that you can access the rear door or tailgate of the vehicle. I also purchased the Swagman X Mount Bike Carrier Storage Rack # S80940 and mounted it in my storage room to store the rack easily when not in use.

As for your last question, having a single-bike rack is nicer if you are only hauling one around in terms of space, but purchasing an additional add-on and having to put and on and off numerous times can be costly, time consuming, and can wear the components quicker.
