What Size SUV is Ideal for Carrying Hitch Mounted Motorcycle Carrier
Question:
Hi etrailer team, Im in the process of buying a car, looking at a compact SUV like a Rav4, something from Jeep or Ford or Mazda, and trying to research the best options to support a dirtbike mount. I dont have the room for a trailer so trying to explore what is the best route here. From initial research, Ive found most of these SUVs can support level III hitches which can support 300-500 lbs depending on the model. Looking for feedback on what I should be looking for in a car or requirements a car trailer hitch that can support a 225 lb dirt bike on a 40-60 lb dirt bike mount.

As someone who has a motorcycle carrier that I use at the back of an SUV I would say you are on the right track. You will need to basically find a mid-level size SUV or bigger like a Chevy Tahoe (what I have) so that you have the hitch capacity and rear suspension capacity. If you go with a smaller SUV that may have the weight capacity from the hitch you may find the rear suspension sag and handling characteristics to be less than ideal.
When you pick a vehicle though the etrailer motorcycle carrier part # e98873 would be a great option.
