Question:
Have a tandem utility trailer rated for 7000 lbs. with electric brakes on two wheels only.Does that mean I could use a 3500 lb axel electric brake assmb.,to replace worn brakes.or do I need a 7000 lb.brake assembly on 10 inch drums

Helpful Expert Reply:
Because a 3500-lbs axle will only use 10" brake assemblies you would only be able to use corresponding 3500-lbs brakes on your trailer and not a 7000-lbs brake, which is typically 12". I recommend using the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs # AKEBRK-35-SA, which are a nice self adjusting brake set that will fit on your current axles. If you wanted to add them to both axles you could, but it's not completely unheard of that a trailer is setup in this manner; it's just not optimal.
Since these brakes don't come with mounting hardware you'll need # BRKH10B to mount these assemblies. I've linked a review video of these brakes for you to check out, as well.
