Question:
Good morning, I have a 2004 Ford Explorer sport trac with factory rails that run front to back. I would like to install a rooftop tent. I am looking for crossrails that you might suggest that would work best. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

We do have exactly what you need in order to install a roof rack to your 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, and because it has raised side rails you will also be able to utilize a rooftop tent with this rack system. What you will need is a rack from Thule, which has the necessary 165 lb capacity for a rooftop tent, and you can even choose from aero or square crossbars. The exact parts that fit are the following:
- Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711400 or Thule SquareBar Evo Crossbars # TH712400
- Evo Raised Rail Feet for Thule Crossbars - Factory Raised Rails # TH710401
With this roof rack installed, you will then be able to get a rooftop tent, and the best options that will work with this rack are from Yakima or Thule, the Yakima SkyRise HD Tent for Roof Rack Crossbars # Y07436 or the Thule Tepui Foothill 2 Rooftop Tent # TH37HJ.
I have added links below to some video reviews for you to check out as well if you'd like to take a look.
