Is Offset Required for Convert-A-Ball 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter Towing with 6-1/2' (6.6') Bed
Question:
2015 GMC Sierra Denali 3500HD with an RDS 90 Gall auxiliary fuel tank and BandW Gooseneck hitch. The bed is 6.6 foot and looking to determine if an offset convert a ball is required, or if no offset would suffice. Also, would the BandW companion fit or maybe even the Anderson setup can’t recall the exact nomenclature. Assist is appreciated.

I would love to help but I can't tell you whether or not an offset hitch is required in order to be able to make full turns while towing. The reason for this is because it will vary by each truck and trailer so this is no something we have the means to test out. I will say however that the general rule we use is if the truck bed is 6-1/2' you'll need an offset/slider hitch. Therefore, you would need the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter part # CAB-C5GX1216 if going the fifth wheel to gooseneck route.
If you were to go with the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch which is a much safer, more durable route then you'd need part # BWRVK3400-5W.
