Video Transcript for Demco Hijacker Underbed Rail Kit Installation - 2015 Ford F-350

Male 1: Today on this 2015 Ford F-350, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Demco under bed rail and installation kit for Demco Hijacker fifth wheel and gooseneck trailer hitches, part number DM8551000. Here's what a Demco under bed system looks like installed. These under bed rails allow us to have all of the mounting solutions for our fifth wheel and gooseneck trailers underneath the bed of our truck. This will allow us to maintain full access to our truck bed and not lose any of the valuable space in it. One of the great features about the Demco under bed system is how easy it is to remove our fifth wheel to gain full truck bed access. So I'll show you how to do that now. We'll pull our clips, pull our pins out, move our handles to the unlocked position.

We'll do this on both sides. Now with an extra set of hands we can grab the slider, pull it out. Now, you'll see once our fifth wheels out of our truck bed, we have complete access to our entire bed of our truck. There is nothing that sticks up above it at all since it's all underneath. It does come with these plugs that you can install in the holes that you drilled in your bed to help keep dirt and debris out of the rails. These under bed rails will allow you to tow a fifth wheel trailer or a gooseneck trailer with the right adapter.

Comparing these two other fifth wheel or gooseneck options, what's really nice about this is being completely under the bed yet there's nothing that sticks up. It does provide a very clean look in your truck when you aren't towing your trailer, and you want to have full bed access. Now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get them installed. To begin our install, we've measured according to the instructions to find the four locations that we need to drill our pilot holes in our bed. When taking these measurements, it's critical that we take the initial measurement from the end of the bed and not the end of our tailgate. If you have a plastic drop-in bed liner, you want to make sure you move it before you make your initial pilot holes.

You can always reinstall it before you put the rails back in and drill up from underneath the bed to enlarge the plastic bed liner if you want to. So we'll have a pilot hole near where the factory dimple is for the factory under bed puck system. So make sure we don't drill into that temple, but we drill where you measured. Now, with our pilot holes made at all four corners, we can now enlarge it to the appropriate size using a hole saw. We'll continue doing the same process for all four holes. Now to help prevent rust on our truck, we're going to take some clear coat and go along the inside edge.

If you have a spray in bed liner, you can just use flat black spray paint as well because that will match your bed liner. Now, we find ourselves in our wheel well. We need to insert our rail over the frame underneath the bed. We'll start with our rear rail first. Make sure the holes are facing up. We'll slide this in position right here. We go all the way across, and then we'll start to slide it back. We'll slide this back over the rear set of holes. We have lined up pretty good on the driver's side, but we need to get it further back on the passenger side. So we may need to use a hammer to tap it into place. Now, we can do our front rail. We'll insert it in the same manner. Now, we'll slide it back and show what's underneath or holes. We've already went ahead and took our fifth wheel or slider, we're using a slider in this case, dropped it in place into our bed, down in our rails, and secured to our rails. We have insured where the legs of our slider go through the bed of the truck into rails that all four are centered into our hole in the bed of our truck. Now, we'll bolt our frame brackets to our rails. To do that, we'll use a half inch bolt with lock washer and a flat Washer. Now for the back hole on our frame bracket on the driver's side, we'll insert a half-inch diameter bolt through that hole into the frame. It will be capped on the inside of the frame with a flat washer and a lock nut. Both the front and the rear hole on the passenger side bracket are the exact same way as this. For our center hole here, we'll take a three-quarter inch diameter bolt, we'll go through that and into the frame. On the inside, we'll cap it with a nut. Now, we'll take our pull wire, we'll go through our forward attachment hole. It'll come about our frame, and we can just pull it around back towards us like this. And we'll thread on our knurled bolt, and we can pull that through the frame. We'll move the pull wire, and we're thread on our flange nut. Now, we can go repeat the same process for the passenger side. The only difference being we won't have a knurled bolt on the front on the passenger side. We'll have a standard bolt like this with a washer on the inside and the nylon lock nut.Now we can start to tighten down our hardware that secures our frame bracket to the frame. Now, we'll do the other ones. Now that we have our frame brackets tightened to the frame on the truck, we'll now tighten the rails to our frame bracket. Now, we'll torque all of our hardware to the amount specified in the instructions. And that completes our look at and showing you how to install the Demco under bed rail and installation kit for Demco Hijacker fifth wheel and gooseneck trailer hitches, part number DM8551000 on this 2015 Ford F-350.

  • Below Bed Base Rails for 2002 Ford F-250 and Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
You can absolutely use the 18,000 lb Demco Hijacker Autoslide with the underbed rails on your 2002 Ford F-250 crew cab. What you need are the following: - Underbed Rail and Installation Kit for Demco Hijacker # DM8551000 - Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider - 18,000 lbs # DM8550022 As you mentioned, this is also compatible with the 21,000 lb version of the Hijacker # DM8550037. Additionally, if your '02 F-250 has the factory 7-way but you need a 5th wheel wiring...

  • What 5TH Wheel Hitch Attaches To 5TH Wheel Rails That Don't Have Slots Like Industry Standard Rails?
Currently the only hitch I know of that uses rails different than the ISR Industry Standard Rails is the Demco Hijacker # DM8550032. This uses a different type of Underbed Rail and Installation Kit # DM8551000 that only has 4 holes that the hitch will drop into and lock onto. While it is possible to have another type of system that may have been discontinued you can send me pictures and measurements of what you do have and I can use that information to determine if there is anything else...

Hi John! The Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 18K # DM6077 can be used in your 2002 Ford F250 short bed, but not as it it currently stands. It is technically a replacement part as it needs a way to be attached. I have two options for that listed below: Standard Above Bed Rails: Side Plates for Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - Above Bed Mount # DM6003 Demco Underbed Rails ( # DM8551000): Side Plates for Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - Underbed Mount #...

Hello Franklin. The Demco # DM24YM hitch is made only for the Ford OEM puck system. If you do not have the puck system, it is still possible to use the Demco slider hitch, but you will need new side plates and a custom underbed mounting kit. Here is what you will need: - Side Plates for Demco Recon Manual Slide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - Under Bed Mounting System # DM44YV - Underbed Rail and Installation Kit for Demco UMS 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Trailer Hitches # DM8551000

  • Parts Needed To Mount A Demco Recon Slider Hitch In The Bed Of A 2013 Ford F-350
Hey Larry, Your installer is correct about factory puck systems needing to be installed at the factory and would not be an option aftermarket. Luckily, Demco does have an underbed mounting system for your 2013 Ford F-350 with part # DM8551000. From there you can just swap out the side plates with part # DM44YV to switch from Ford's puck spacing to Demco's.

  • 5TH Wheel Rail Kits and Hitches For a 2016 Ford F-350 Without Factory Prep/Puck System
You will have several options for mounting a 5th wheel hitch in your 2016 Ford F-350. First is the Curt Custom 5th Wheel Installation Kit for Ford # C16424-204. This system gives you rails that will mount inside your bed and accept either a Sliding Hitch # C16541 for a short bed or Fixed Hitch # C16130 for a long bed. This system does mean that you will have the rails that are always in your bed which can be a hassle if you do slide things in and out of you bed a lot. Next is the B&W...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Install Kit Recommendations for a 2015 Ford F-250 Short Bed
Since your 2015 Ford F-250 has the short bed I strongly recommend using a 5th wheel installation kit and hitch and not using an adapter in a gooseneck hitch. The reason is that will the short bed truck you will want as much clearance as you can get when turning so that the trailer and truck do not collide. Adapters do not offer much additional clearance. Since you like the clean look of the gooseneck I have an excellent solution for you. I recommend the B&W system using installation kit...

If you are not 100% sure check the measurements. For the Ford OEM Mount, Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ford OEM 5th Wheel Towing # DM6175. • Is a Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch Needed to Tow with a 2007 Ford F-350 Diesel with Short Bed
Although some people can make it work, for any pickup with a bed less than 8' we always recommend going with a sliding 5th wheel hitch. This allows you to safely make sharp turns without your 2004 Forest River Cedar Creek making contact with the cab of your 2007 Ford F-350. You actually don't need a capture plate unless your pin box has a rotating turret, like a Sidewinder, or you have an automatic sliding 5th wheel hitch. If you have a normal pin box then no special capture plate is required. If...

  • Can I Hitch Up My 5th Wheel Trailer at a 90 Degree Angle?
I would not recommend hooking up at a 90 degree angle for a couple of reasons. The trailer is not designed to take the force of the truck contacting the pin box at that angle. It would be very dangerous and unstable and could topple the trailer over if something were to hit it too hard. The front of the pin box has a curved lip to let the pin box ride up the hitch head. The side of the pin does not have that lip so everything would have to be extremely precise to make sure the flat...
