Hitch Installation of Curt Hitch on 2019-2020 Ram 1500 with Class III Tow Bumper
Updated 07/29/2020 | Published 07/27/2020 >
Question:
The instructions say to torque the center bolt to 320 ft lbs. Most torque wrenches dont go that high. Any advise in how to get this properly installed? Everything about this install seems easy but I feel like this step requires a specialized tool. Am I missing something?

No, you aren't missing anything, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13419 does have a high torque requirement. There are torque wrenches that go up that high but the standard ones do max at 150-200 foot lbs. You can often borrow one from some auto parts stores or home improvement stores. If you aren't able to track one down, you may need to resort to a pipe with a breaker bar to help you get a high amount of torque without being able to measure the foot lbs until you are able to get the higher capacity torque wrench. Of course any towing before that will be done at your own risk.
