Pontoon Boat Length vs. Pontoon Trailer Length
Question:
How far can pontoons hang over bunk guides on trailer front and rear.
asked by: Brian
Expert Reply:
It is recommended that a pontoon boat trailer be 3 to 4 feet longer than the pontoon boat it carries. So a 20-foot pontoon boat should be transported on a trailer with 23- to 24-foot bunk boards to avoid the pontoon tube hitting the back of the tow vehicle in a tight turn.
We offer bunk-style guides in various sizes and these appear on the linked page.
We also offer bunk boards in several lengths that come already wrapped in marine carpet, such as 6-foot pair # CE27840 and 7-foot pair # CE27845. We also have roller-type bunks like # DL21741 which reduce the friction and drag of the pontoon tubes on the bunks. This will save winch battery power or make your hand winch easier to use.
