Recommendation to Replace 215/65R15 Tire Size on Trailer

Updated 12/18/2017 | Published 12/16/2017

Question:

I bought a trailer that has 215/65r15 tires on it. Due to the load I’d like to get the proper trailer tires put on it. What would be the best trailer tire size to utilize?

The closest trailer tire size to the 215/65R15 tires you currently have mounted is a ST205/75-15. This tire size is going to have a larger overall diameter by about 1.3 inches but a smaller width by about 0.4 inches. You will just want to make sure you have the needed wheel well/fender clearance for the larger diameter tires.

I recommend looking at the Westlake ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15" Silver Mod Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D # LHAW121 if you have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. This is a great radial ply tire that features a maximum load of 2,150 pounds at 65 psi and a maximum speed of 75 mph. For just a tire you can use part # TR20515D.
