Trailer Brake Controller installation in 2010 Honda Ridgeline Without Factory 7-Way
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I purchased the kit 118253 for my Honda Ridgeline 2010 model. I can see where the relays go, I know where the fuses go and I found the connector for the trailer brake control and have attached the P3 cable assembly but I cannot locate a plug for the controller box in the area to the right of the steering column. I even checked under the console by removing the plastic kick plate by the gas pedal. Any hints would be appreciated none of the instructions mention anything about removing plugs on the harness that are already connected

Your 2010 Honda Ridgeline will have an under-dash connection port for a trailer brake controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 only if it came from the factory with the 7-way trailer connector. Adding this connector using kit # 118253 does not provide the brake controller port. This part is intended as a factory replacement but not a retro-fit.
For any vehicle that does not have the factory-installed 7-way and the under-dash port a brake controller installation will be hardwired. This process requires a 4-pole harness like # C55585 along with our brake controller install kit # ETBC7. Apart from the controller itself no other items are needed.
