Suspension Enhancements for a 2017 Toyota Tacoma with Firestone Airbags

Timbrens installed and big help with rear end sway side to side.I have a fiberglass ARE Cap on Back along with a rubber bed Matte as of now for weight.If truck on level ground,barely an air gap as is with Frame & Top of Timbrens.Pretty upsetting to me with even having to beef the rear suspension in this Tacoma for just this weight,let alone when I load it up and haul my trailer on my trip coming the end of October.I was told this truck had a 6000lb rating .Bologna!! Lots of chat on Tacoma World about leaf springs being junk.Im thinking I'm not your 1st Tacoma owner youve had to deal with over this crap.So I need more help on this and any suggestion with any experience with other Tacoma owners would be very helpfull. Soo....! My thoughts are with Torklifts next which would engage the leaf springs sooner,maybe giving the Timbrens a little more gap on top.What do you think? Or.......! Supersprings which would make me pull the Timbrens back off I think you said which cant be used with that Leafspring.Right now with exsistingweight I'm Ok with Timbrens all though there is a Jolt as well as a recoil on a severe bump,but I can live with that.Just worried now when it gets loaded for trip,and just to add not overloaded according to vehicle specs either.Jesus so upsetting. Supersprings would put me back to stage 1 again .My question on Supersprings is what happens to the original OEM Toyota Bump stops if I went with Supersprings?? Sorry to be back here with questions but I'm getting frustrated having to deal with this at all !!

I do have a suspension enhancement option for your 2017 Toyota Tacoma that is compatible with the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2407, however, the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TTORTUN4L and the Roadmaster Active Suspension Kit part # RAS4514-SAT will not work.

In order to use a set of suspension enhancements with your currently installed Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs, I recommend the TorkLift StableLoad Rear Suspension Upgrade part # TLA7311 as this will work in a similar way to the RoadActive Suspension Kit and the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System by helping to evenly distribute weight, ensuring that truck stays level for better handling and reducing side to side body roll. This is the only suspension enhancement option we have for you that is both confirmed to fit your vehicle and is compatible with the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs.

Ive decided to go with the Timbrens or SumoSprings.I'll be ordering them from ETrailer this weekend.Sorry,another question? Will the TorqLift along with the Timbrens work. Is there another option with either the Timbrens or SumoSprings like for instance Supersprings maybe?Also ,why would someone use Sumo's over the Timbrens?

The TorkLift StableLoad Rear Suspension Upgrade w Quick-Disconnects part # TLA7311 can be used with either the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-612-47 or the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TTORTUN4 for vehicles with 4 leaf springs and part # TTORTUN4L for vehicles with 3 leaf springs. You would not be able to use the SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit part # SSA36 with either the Timbrens or the SumoSprings as this would cause the bump stops to engage much too soon. I will say that using the TorkLift with either the Timbrens or the SumoSprings would create an extremely stiff and perhaps uncomfortable ride. For both support and ride quality, the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2407 is the way to go. The Timbrens are made of a much stiffer hardened natural rubber and the SumoSprings are made of a much softer microcellular urethane. Therefore, the Timbrens will provide you with more support but the SumoSprings will have a smoother ride.

Timbren recommends having 3/4" to 1" from the bottom of the spring to the contact point. This measurement is to ensure the springs are only engaged when needed. The TorkLift StableLoad Rear Suspension Upgrade part # TLA7311 installs on top of the lower factory overload leaf spring and will take some of the stress off the main factory leaf spring stack. Depending on how soon the TorkLift spacer engages (how far towards the center of the axle they are placed), it can increase the space you have between the bump stop and contact point meaning, the Timbrens will not engage as often with a set of TorkLift spacers installed. The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-612-40 can also be used with TorkLift spacers and are similar to the Timbrens but are made of a less stiffer material which will minimize the jolt and recoil you are experiencing while going over a bump. In short, Timbrens have more support but the SumoSprings have a better ride. Like the Timbrens, the SumoSprings will replace the factory bump stops. The best option for your vehicle would be to use the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2407 for 4WD or part # F2410 for 2WD. A set of airbags will give you maximum support without sacrificing ride quality. As this seems to be the predicament you are in, I believe you will be most happy with this purchase. This has been one of the most popular suspension enhancement for Tacoma owners over the years.
