Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I have ordered two hitches and two wiring harnesses from etrailer. Amidst other good (and not so good) online retailers, etrailer stands out as one of the very best: informative videos, good products, fast service, and very knowledgeable support staff. I called with a technical question before a purchase and received exactly the information I needed. Excellent company.

Adam helped me pick out the correct hitch for my needs. The install process was quick and easy. The hitch has performed flawlessly. I'm very happy with my purchase (and it's been a year).

2007 Honda Element

I added the frame trailer hitch solely for the purpose of attaching my Kuat bike rack to our 2007 Honda Element SC. The hitch fit perfectly and was easy to install. The installation directions are complete and easy to follow. Attached are some photos of the completed project.

The hitch has been great. It has remained securely attached to the frame of the car and keeps the rack and our bikes secure as well

Honda Element

I almost paid a company over $200 to install a similar rack. The one I purchased was for an Honda Element and it fit perfectly! I didn’t have to drill one hole and it lined right up with my frame. I was done within an hour and the product is solid as a rock.

Installed with ease, so easy a cave man could do it! Installed on 2005 Honda Element AWD.

2003 Honda Element

Outstanding product. This is the third hitch I purchased from etrailer. Easy install in less than 45 minutes. I now can use my Honda element as a kayak mover also I have expanded the utility of the vehicle by enabling the use of my hitch basket.

Great, Still in use very often.

by:
2006 Honda Element

The hitch arrived fast and safe. I installed it this morning in less than an hour. It fit very well into place. The only trouble was the u bolt didn't quite line up with the holes on the hitch. I was able to spread it with a screw driver and it dropped into place through the holes enough to place the nuts on the treads and tighten them. Other than that, it was an easy install with just some ordinary hand tools. We used some duct tape to hold the spacer washers in place like some others advised which worked out great. Highly recommended product.

2015 Honda Element

I have to say etrailer hooked it up. Ordered my hitch on a Tuesday and got it the next day, got to give them a high five on that. I have a 2011 Honda Element EX, needed a hitch for my bike rack. I was looking for a hitch that would fit without any issues. Picked the Draw-Tite because it had a great review and the people on the Honda Element Forums suggested it. After I got the hitch it took about 15 min to install, actually it took longer to torque the bolts down than the actual install. As you can see from the photo their is a little bit of bumper bend but nothing that you would notice unless you looked really close. Thanks again etrailer it was great doing business with you.

Thanks TJ!Its really helpful your comment and pics, especially the one with the bend. Im just wondering if DrawTite fixed this a bit of bend issue with the latest product or, its really small bend to notice, as you mentioned above. It would be nice if you can post a pic from the back, just like the other once, but without the bike carrier. I just want to see how it looks without the carrier from the back.Anyway, thanks for your review! It really helps us to decide to go with this hitch.Cheers,

Patrick B.

It was just as advertised and fit perfectly. Only took about 15 minutes to install Very happy.

by:
2005 Honda Element

Hitch is as described. Took me a little over an hour to install by myself with hand tools. Tricky part was trying to keep the washers between the hitch and frame of the 05 Element. Can be installed by yourself but an extra pair of hands would have been nice. I plan on using the hitch mainly for a fat bike rack which this will work great. Over all very happy with the quality and good looks this hitch provides. Monies well spent in my opinion.

2008 Honda Element

I am happy to report a good experience from etrailer. I ordered DrawTite hitch 75659 for a 08 Honda Element SC, also wiring. I chose this hitch becaused of the way it mounted no drilling or enlarging holes, seemed like the best design for the Element. The orrder was shipped quickly to Okla. I had no trouble with installating of either hitch or wiring. Note, the u clamp was slightly narrow to line up with the holes in the hitch. I spread slightly before installing. I did have to trim bumper plastic which I was hesitant at first, I was careful and it now looks better than being pushed up. Thanks to Molly for good service and tracking info.

by:
2008 Honda Element

As others have commented, the product descriptions and installation instructions provided by etrailer.com were excellent. Order Class III - 2" for a 2008 Honda Element SC. The hitch was promptly delivered in three days. As guided by your site, and a very prompt follow-up to my email questions by customer service representative Leah S., I was able to develop an plan to trim the bumper/fascia prior to installation. Used a "31 tooth per inch" jig saw blade to trim the required cut out. See trim planning pic and installation pic.

Thanks for all your assistance...and great product. Installation was a breeze (after watch several of the you-tube instructional videos)!

by:
2011 Honda Element

Installation was easy. I recommend using masking tape to hold the 3/4 washer in place. An extra set of hands is important for bringing the hitch into place. I recommend a torque wrench because the 75 ft lbs of torque for the 1/2 in nuts was a lot more than I would have thought. Finally, the hitch compressed the fender so I opted to cut it. I set the hitch, traced it against the fender with a grease pen, removed it, cut out a piece using a jig saw and finally set the hitch again. I'm really pleased with the result I got. It would have more difficult without the right tools and help.

by:
2007 Honda Element

Great price. Fast and free shipping! Easy installation (by myself). Took about a 1/2hr.
Hitch seems to be well made. It fit perfect and looks good. I haul a 170lb motorcycle on it with no problem.

I was recently under my vehicle doing rear brakes. While there I put a wrench on all of the fasteners for the hitch and all were tight. The hitch itself looked good the powdercoating is holding up well. I will be putting my motorcycle on it this weekend without any worries

by:
2005 Honda Element

Fast delivery, no missing parts, very sturdy hitch. I repainted it to match my 2005 Element rear bumper. Used Rustoleum hammertone light gray. I followed a suggestion that one of the commenters had about taping the large fender washers in place to avoid trying to shove them up into place while jostling with the hitch. This trick makes this a one person operation. Also I installed the forward bolts first then swung the hitch up to set in the rear two bolts. Worked like a charm. Had no problem installing the “U” bolt, as some people mentioned. Note in the photo there is my aluminum angle that is bolted the steel tab on the left side of the receiver. Eventually I will drill a 3/4” hole in it for a quick disconnect round four wire plug.

I was so excited to have received this purchase a year ago for my element! The process to install was so simple , my boyfriend was very satisfied. We hitched our bike hitch and successfully transported our bikes all through Washington. A year later, its a satisfying investment! Thank you again

2010 Honda Element

Recently I ordered a Draw Tite Max Frame trailer hitch from you, for my daughters 2010 Honda Element. It arrived well packaged in about three days. The hitch was well made and appears to be robust. I backed my car up onto some ramps, chocked the wheels and installed the hitch on my own. Installation took about forty minutes. The included installation directions were clear, the job was straightforward and easy. The fit is perfect, the hitch looks good. This last weekend we loaded up some bikes on the bike carrier and headed out. I am extremely pleased with the purchase. Thanks!

My etrailer experience? Excellent! The website product information and videos were very helpful for product selection. .. Order was received promptly and well packed. Installation of my hitch took about one leisure hour working alone. .. Installing on a 2004 Honda Element, here a picture of the install:

My experience with e-trailer was one of those times when you think this is going too easy and there has to be a catch. There wasn't. Living in Alaska it's sometimes hard to get parts. After checking with local suppliers I found the receiver I needed for my Honda Element had to be ordered and would take two weeks. We needed it in a week. I was able to find the exact part I needed on e-trailer at a very competitive price and it arrived in 3 days. The representative I talked with was great. He doubled checked that the receiver I was ordering was the right one, checked availability and reassured me it would go out the next morning. When it arrived we had it installed in less than hour. Crisis averted with out a hitch. No pun intended.

2005 Honda Element

I installed the trailer hitch receiver in less than an hour without assistance on a 2005 Honda Element. I did watch the etrailer video on the installation before I ordered this. The written instructions were clear and easy to follow. The only tricky part of the installation was keeping the 3/4" flat washers in place. I used a thin screwdriver and a thin metal shim to make sure they were over the tube spacer. The final installation looks great. I really liked not having to drill holes. I hate being on my back and having the metal shavings falling on my face... I will be using this for a bike rack. I doubt that I will ever pull a trailer with it.

2010 Honda Element

The hitch for my 2010 Honda Element arrived very quickly and in good condition. The shipping box was solid, but the hitch was basically loose inside the box.

Installation was easy. I recommend that you use masking tape to hold the large fender washers to the outside of the mounting plates - it makes it simple to get everything lined up. Be careful not to drop the tubular spacers into the frame rails - it would be tough to get them back out again. Put the bolts through the frame first, then put the spacers on the bolts. (Remove in the opposite order, or you risk dropping the spacer into the frame rail.)

I installed the forward set of bolts loosely, allowing me to pivot the hitch up into position and mark the bumper cover for trimming (I have an SC model - no trimming is required for the EX or LX models). One thing that would be handy would be a paper trimming template for the SC bumper cover - it would be a simple addition to the instruction sheet.

Put masking tape on the bumper to protect it and give you a place to mark out the cuts. The bumper material cuts easily with a coping saw or power spiral saw; cut undersized and then file or sand the opening to size and for clean appearance.

The hitch lined up perfectly with all the mounting points on the frame, and it is a good, solid hitch. The hardware was all of very good quality, packaged nicely.

The bracket to the left of the receiver does tend to get in the way of hitch-pin locks, but nothing I couldn't work around.

Overall the service from etrailer.com was excellent!

Item was damaged, My trailer hitch was not completely powdered coat and was damaged on the other end, like someone dropped it and damaged the powered coat.

This installation is about as easy as it gets. There's no drilling required and eTrailer gives you all the hardware and easy to follow instructions. Remember to leave everything loose until all the bolts are in place or you'll make it harder on yourself. Keeping the spacer washers aligned with the sleeves is a little tricky, but a small flat-blade screwdriver quickly lines them up again if they slip off. Overall, a great product!

2003 Honda Element

Product delivered ahead of schedule. Installed in my garage in a hoodie with safety goggles on my back. Takes half hour with no power tools. I am going to say I dig the outdoors and eventually will get a trailer, but until then I wanted to get in the groove of pushing myself to save and do it. I am going to promote myself here too, visit my tattoo shop in Olympia Washington, for custom work from a semi-retired tattoo artist.

Great product and service. Thank you.

  • Hitch Recommendation for 2003 Honda Element
None of the hitches we offer would have enough weight capacity for a tongue weight of 450 lbs. Highest we have is the etrailer part # e78KR which has tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs. Even still you'd be limited by the capacity of the vehicle which will be 150 lbs like you mentioned. You'd have to look into a small trailer. We've found that people will disregard capacities and warnings to do whatever it is that they want while putting other motorists at risk. Some get away with it without...

In order to install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75659 which is a fit for a 2006 Honda Element, you'll need to be sure to use the included conical tooth washers which ensure the nuts don't loosen. We don't sell just the conical tooth washer separately but you might be able to get them from the hardware store. If not, I can't recommend this but I would probably just use standard washers and locknuts if I were you. We do however sell complete hardware packs, the...

  • Does 2 inch Draw Tite Hitch for 2005 Honda Element Have Stopper or Back to Tube
What happened to you with the hitch that had the stopper is actually a pretty common occurrence. That stopper is in the hitch tubes of Class I hitches to prevent the use of heavier Class II accessories. Reason being that Class I hitches are lighter duty. The etrailer trailer hitch part # e78KR does not have a stopper so it would work well for you as long as your bike rack is designed for a 2 inch trailer hitch. This would work great with the Yakima HoldUp EVO part # Y02479 that you referenced...
