Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

1996 Ford F-150

Arrived 2 days after ordering online! Was a direct fit for my 96 Ford F150.I used a jack to hold it up and another set of hands.I thought I was going to have to take the spare tire off but I didn't.I ended up just sawing off the end of the carrier piece.Drilled 6 1/2 holes in the frame.Tightened it with a deep socket ratchet but it still will need to be tightened with a torque wrench. The Hitch weighs about 36 pounds and I probably will use it to haul a small trailer.??

Works great,no issues at all.Would definitely recommend.

by:

The hitch, is welded in a way it does not sit straight. Where the ball slides in is slightly rotated. You can see this in the metal work and picture attached. Also, the hitch sits lower than I thought it would according to the advertisement. It’s is about 5 inches below the bumper, and I got the hitch to install without a drop bumper. The craftsman ship is lacking, so I imagine it’s towing weight rating will be to.

Great hitch! installation was easy little tricky on my rear mounting bolts as my fuel tank was boxed in. I fished the fasteners and bolts through with rebar wire as to not drop the fuel tank. Very pleased with etrailer awesome to work with would do it all again for sure.

I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of this unit and after checking around for weeks, I'm sure I got the best price available anywhere. The unit shipped out very fast and I received it within a couple of days, just in time to bolt it on. I will buy from etrailer.com again and highly recommend etrailer.com to others. And by the way, I found enough information on the different hitches on the website to make sure that I identified the hitch that was compatible with my vehicle before placing my order.
Thank You!

by:

the product looks good and should function fine. All of my drawbars fit, so it should pull my trailer without any problems.I did,, however have to drill four of the six holes and remove my spare tire carrier. I will have to put a different style carrier on to correct the issue. Overall I say its a good product for a great price. Free shipping was a plus. I will more the likely purchase from etrailers again. the service has been great so far.

by:

Hi George,

We did receive the trailer
hitches and so far so good! Your turn around time from order to delivery is fantastic! The hitches have not yet been installed or used but we would be happy to provide additional feedback as soon as we do both of the aforementioned. Thank You!

A hitch is pretty much a hitch and it works and fit fine. What is impressive is the customer service offered by etrailer. I had questions about installation and they were answered quickly, professionally, and more importantly, correctly! I will be purchasing from etrailer from now on. Thank you!

A sleek subdued look for a useful & classic item - a hitch receiver. I did not expect the final product installed, to look so sleek & subdued. The Draw-Tite #75038 is a great fit for a 1987 Dodge D-150 pick-up truck.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For 1990 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat
For your stock 1990 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III - 2", # 75038. This will fit your stock truck without any interference. I've attached an installation video to help. This hitch receiver is a square-tube design and has a black powder coat finish over an e-coat base for superior rust protection. It is a bolt-on installation. I know you didn't want a wiring recommendation, but if you do at a later date, let me know. Also...

  • Dimension and Installation of a Hitch on a 1995 Ford F150
The distance between the mounting holes from left to right when measured on center is 35 inches. You will want to push the hitch as far to the front of the vehicle against the rivet. To center the hitch on the frame rails you would want to find a reference point on both frame rails and then make sure that the hitch sits an equal distance from that point on both side of the vehicle. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well.

  • Can a Trailer Hitch Be Installed on a Modified 1988 Ford F-150, 250, or 350
On trailer hitch # 75038 it measures approximately 9-1/4 inches from the bottom of the truck frame down to the center of the receiver. The hitches for the 1988 Ford F-series trucks are designed for stock models. I can't say for sure if any would fit with the modifications to the rear of your truck. If the measurements for the hitch don't work out another option is to use a weld-on hitch and have it installed by a qualified professional welder. I have linked the weld-on hitches that we carry.

  • How to Pick Out Correct Ball Mount Rise/Drop When Using Draw Tite Hitch 75038
When the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75038 is installed on your 1995 Ford F-150 the top of the hitch tube will be right underneath the rear bumper. To compute about how much rise/drop you would need from a ball mount you will basically need to measure from the bottom of your rear bumper down to the ground and subtract about an inch from this measurement. You will then need to use the jack of your trailer to level it and then measure from the ground to the bottom lip of the coupler. Whatever...

Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75038 will fit the 1992 Ford F-150 that has a standard bumper or step bumper. If your truck has either of these bumpers then the hitch will fit so long as your frame width is NOT 34-inches. Drilling is required and the instructions are linked. I also included a link to a video that shows installation in a 1990 F-150. If you also need a 4-pole wiring harness you can use # 118316.

The only information I could find on a hitch number 37042 is that it fits the Ford Escape. This would not be the hitch for you to use for your 1995 Ford F-150. Instead you would want the Draw-Tite part # 75038 for if you have a standard bumper or part # 41504 for if you have a deep drop bumper.

  • Will Trailer Hitch for 1996 Ford Bronco Interfere with Larger Gas Tanks
We don't have any fit notes for having to drop the fuel tank or have any other tank interference of your 1996 Ford Bronco to install a Class III hitch like the # 75038. I did some googling and found that one guy had to fishwire his hardware through the frame to get around the fuel tank but that's really not that difficult. For a bolt leader to do this you would need the part # 80101-1. I attached a help video on fishwiring for you to check out as well.

I do not have a confirmed fit for your 1992 Ford F450 with the Eagle Lift liftgate, but I spoke to my contact at Draw Tite and he informed me of a way for you to determine by taking a few measurements on your vehicle. He said that from the rear most mounting hole to the end of the receiver tube is 10-7/8 inches.
