Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

A good alternative to 20.5 x 8-10 tires

Would love to say these are great wheels and tires, put these tires on my boat trailer instead of those 530/12 wheels that came on it and made a remarkable difference in the trailer not swaying as it did before! Great product and thanks for the service!

These tires been a big help and still holding out real well , thanks for the follow up and great service !

The wheels are absolutely nice the tires are nice tread design have not stuck them on the trailer yet but I believe they're gonna fit real nicely

Met all expectations. Still going.
use the used tires on my tractor front wheels. The old Wheels where Rusty and leaked air. These new galvanized rims tires still look great they haven't lost any pressure.

I bought these tires for my 1999 Club Car DS golf cart. I really liked the non directional tread design because my cart only gets driven around the neighborhood and the tires should last a long time driving on concrete. The galvanized rims were an added bonus, they look like chrome rims from a distance and I don't have to worry about rust or painting in the future. The customer service people answered all my questions and concerns promptly. I also caught the tire / wheel combo at a great price and the free and quick shipping was amazing. 100% satisfied ,Thanks,
Brady B in the GREAT STATE of TEXAS

Tire and wheel were delivered as described and delivery was received in a timely manner. I'm very happy with the product.

Rich C.

Still happy with the purchase. Tires and wheels are holding up very well.

Great Service.
Oops the shipping
guy transposed two digits in the item ID number. I got a 5 lug wheel instead of the ordered 4 lug wheel. I called right away and etrailer quickly made the order right and gave me a voucher to ship the wrong part number back.

I would/will order from etrailer again.

I bought these tire/wheel combos to replace painted wheels that had issues with corrosion. They've performed better than expected, with no corrosion issues. As a bonus, we haven't had a single flat tire with the new tires. I would definitely purchase these again.

Product has worked better than expected and was impressed with the shipping and packaging of my tires and wheels

Item was well packaged and in excellent condition when received. I'm sure it will provide many years of excellent service. The rims are solidly built and an galvanized. The tires appear to be of very good quality.

They look great on my trailer. Quality wheels.

Excellent communication and very fast shipping! The wheels and tires are very nice and a great value too!

I picked my tire up this morning it was there exactly when I was told it was going to be there it is exactly what I ordered I am super happy with etrailer and will be using them to order my new tires for my travel trailer thank you very much

Tires and rims came in. They look great. Very happy

The Tires were a perfect fit. They have worn very well and the trailer is very stable on the highway.

Tires arrived in one big box, in great condition. Thanks for the great packaging!
They are just what I ordered. The wider tires will make driving in soft sand easier and easier to push the trailer it's into place by hand in the grass.

tires performed fantastic

Super great company to deal with. Fast communication and fast shipping. Highly recommend.

  • What is the Backspacing of Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10 Inch Wheel, # AM3H340
The Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10 Inch Wheel, # AM3H340, has a zero offset which makes the backspacing 3-1/2 inches. This tire and wheel will be an inch further in towards the trailer than your current tire and wheel. You will need to make sure the trailer can support this size by checking to see if there is enough clearance so the tire does not rub against any part of the trailer frame. Also, just so you are aware, there will also be a difference in the capacity between the...

  • Will the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10 Inch Galvanized Wheel Work On a Golf Cart
The Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" Galvanized Wheel part # AM3H340 would work just fine on a golf cart assuming the size and bolt pattern are correct. In regards to ride quality, this would be hard to predict but the psi rating is only listed as 35 psi which is not much so you should be alright. That said, many will decrease the psi inside the tire until they achieve the desired ride quality but keep in mind this is not exactly recommend by the manufacturer. The 205/65-10 is...

The modern size equivalent of the 20.5x8-10 that you have currently would be the same size tire that is on the # AM3H340 that you referenced, 205/65-10. As long as the bolt pattern of your current hubs are 4 on 4 inch the wheels of this would bolt up to your trailer as well. I attached a help article on determining bolt patterns for you to check out too.

  • Replacement Wheel and Tire Recommendation for Trailer with 205/65-10 Rims
We can definitely help you get new wheels and tires on your snowmobile trailer. We have the size tire you need but we have to first determine what bolt pattern rim you have. If you count 4 bolts that hold the wheel to the trailer you would want the part # AM3H340 which is galvanized to fight corrosion. Or if you count 5 bolts you would need the part # AM3H490 which is also galvanized.

  • Are There Tires Smaller Than 205/65-10
It sounds like you have 20.5 x 8-10 tires, which is equivalent to a 205/65-10 trailer tire and measures 20.5" when inflated and is 8.3" wide. If this is what size your tire is the only smaller size is 205/50-10, though these are golf cart tires, the Kenda K399 Pro-Tour Bias Golf Cart Tire - 205/50-10 - Load Range B # AM40406 which is 18.3" and fits 10" x 6" wheels, but only has a load capacity of 665 lbs per tire.
