Today were going to review part number DT25013. This is the Diversi-Tech universal trailer coupler lock for the one and seven-eighths, the two inch and the two and five-sixteenths couplers. This universal design coupler lock will protect most trailers from towed away. It has a multi-step uniball which will fit into any size ball coupler. It does have a unique bend in the reversible shackle which will let it snug up tight to most types of couplers or coupler latches. It will fit on couplers that are A-framed designed, straight channel, round tongue, flat plate and surge type couplers.
It will also fit on couplers that use latches of a trigger latch, pin latch, thumb latch and wrap around yolk latch. It does use a 2T lock cylinder which will provide better security than your standard key mechanisms. It does come with four high security keys. This cylinder is harder to pick and more difficult to duplicate keys. It has an anti-drill pin which will discourage attempts to drill out the lock.
Then when this is locked in it uses a bolt block locking system which will prevent thieves from prying the lock open. Ill open it up and show you what theyre talking about here. Unlock it and pull the shackle out, and if you can see right in here when I lock it you can see the bolt will extend out and engage into the ridges in the shackle. These internal bolts when they engage the notches in the shackle will lock it into place. The shackle itself is a hardened chrome plated shackle.
The housing it goes into is a nickel plated housing. Again, this will fit most one and seven-eighths inch, two inch and two and five-sixteenths ball coupler. The maximum coupler width in here would be four and a half inches. The shackle diameter is five-eighths inch, and this does come with a limited lifetime warranty. I do want to give you an example of how this fits on a coupler.
I have an example here of a straight tongue coupler with the trigger latch. If we open it up, set it into the coupler, lock it into place and then you would just take your shackle, let it slide down into there, turn the key to lock it. As you can see, once its locked into place you can probably even go a little bit tighter on that one. There we go. As you can see, this would lock down over the top of the coupler so it would keep anybody from backing up and hooking their hitch ball into your trailer coupler and driving away with your trailer. This does come with a limited lifetime warranty. That should do it for review on part number DT25013.

We were using a MasterLock that never felt secure and are absolutely thrilled with this lock. This Diversi-Tech lock fits securely and won't be pried off easily like the MasterLock would. I highly recommend this Diversi-Tech lock. I definitely feel much more confident using this lock when parking my trailer at a show or event. Also, a piece of advice - turn the lock backwards, so the keyhole faces back towards the trailer. This makes it much more difficult for a thief to use a drill or large tools to hack the lock. 78791

This is the second round of locks I am buying. I bought 3 of them for my roofing business 4 years ago. This time I got them all keyed alike I think that will help me keep track of what key goes to what. I really like these locks I feel comfortable leaving my trailer in places I wouldn't if I didn't have them. I did have some problems with not being able to open them when the pins would stick inside where the key goes. I had to cut two of them off. Not too hard to cut off with my rotozip but I think they are probably one of the best locks out there.72497

Comes with 4 keys which is very welcome. Satisfied so far. Seems harder to attack since you can position the key side toward the axle, making it awkward for thieves. I use it in conjunction with a lock on the coupler handle. Keeps honest people honest since a determined thief could bypass the hitch using chains, and going slowly if they wanted to chance being noticed.49197

I purchased the Rack'em wheel lock RA-25 and coupler lock DT25013. Super fast delivery. I picked up my new pop-up yesterday in 110 degree weather with the locks in my trunk. By the time I got to the storage facility, it was sweltering. I was dreading putting on the locks for the first time "thinking it would be so complicated." Wheh, it was not!. The lock seems extremely robustly made. My trailer has a wide flange around the coupler and the stepped design of the bail fits perfectly. The circular keyway is secure and the casting is smooth. The teeth on both sides of the bail provide more secure latching than my one-sided prior lock. The main lock piece is smooth on the bottom preventing someone from hooking under the lock and just towing the trailer away. My prior lock had a lip that allowed the trailer to be moved with a tow hook. My only complaint is that it came with two very sharp, very pointy metal pins sticking out of the bail, maybe to secure it in the package. I had to get a pair of pliers to remove these before they ripped my hands up.17697
I noted the same problem with the sharp clevis ? pins protruding from the bail. They do not seem to serve any purpose and there is no information in the instruction sheet that would indicate removal of the pins would somehow diminish the security of the lock. At first I assumed they prevented the shackle from being pushed too far into the lock but that was not the case. Mine are coming out and if it violates the warranty at least I wont have ripped my fingers and hands open.

I have found this lock to be a good fit for my coupler. I had tried another brand and found that the width of that lock was just a bit narrow for my hitch. This one works fine. The finish of the lock looks as though it will resist weathering for some time. I recommend this lock.13583
