CIPA Clamp On Universal Fit Towing Mirror Installation - 2014 Toyota Tacoma

Today on our 2014 Toyota Tacoma we're going to be doing a test fit on the CIPA Universal Bar Clamp On Towing Mirror. That's part number CM11980. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park or even back up while towing a trailer or camper. As you can see I'm visible in the towing mirror but not the factory mirror. If I take a few steps in towards my trailer as you can see there's no blind spot by the way we have it set up but this is the view you get with just your factory mirror. Now the mirror can be rotated 360 degrees so if you'd like to keep it at that horizontal position for a different view you have that option.

  • Installing a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2014 Toyota Tacoma
  • If your 2014 Toyota Tacoma came with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector then the plug-in for a brake controller should be there. Harness # 3040-P is the correct one for your truck and a Tekonsha brake controller. I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable. I have linked a video to the right that shows where the controller plugs in. This adapter plugs into the 5-pin connector on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. The...

  • Adding 7-Way Trailer Connector to 2014 Toyota Tacoma without Factory Tow Package
  • It sounds like your 2014 Toyota Tacoma did not come with a factory tow package. What can happen sometimes is that on models that did not come with the factory tow package not all of the wiring or contacts will be present. You would either need to by all of the tow package parts or you would need to return the harness and install an aftermarket one designed for models without the factory tow package. If you want to add a 7-Way to the truck you would start by installing a 4-Way using #...

  • Placement and Orientation of Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller
  • The Tekonsha P3 would need to be mounted so that it is level in the side-to-side orientation, and pointed so that it is parallel to the direction of travel. The controller does not have any error codes specific to the controller being out of horizontal, but installing it so that it is not level or parallel to the direction of travel would cause erratic or poor brake performance, therefore you should make every effort to install the controller as stated in the instructions. If you no longer...
