How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Dodge Sprinter Van
Today on this 2008 Dodge Sprinter we are going to install part number 13358 from Curt. Right now you can see how the hitch looks on the vehicle. Next we will give you some measurements to help you out in ing some accessories such as a ball mount, bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground is going to be 14-3/ 4 inches. From the center of the hitch pin to the outside edge of the bumper is going to be 6-1/ 2 inches. First we will show you where the hitch is going to mount up to the vehicle. It is going to mount on this side of the frame using the three factory bolts and plus an additional bolt that comes in the kit. This is going to be identical on both sides. Right now we are looking at the driver side. What is going to happen is we are going to take these bolts, take them out one at a time, reverse them so the threads are going on the outside and our hitch will mount to that part. Okay now our fourth bolt is the one that comes with the kit and it also has a spacer block behind it and it goes in just like the other ones with the spacer block on the inside of the frame. 01:21
We want to keep these bolts close to the edge so we can slide the hitch up over the frame. That way our bumper will not fall down when installing the hitch. We will repeat the same process back over on the passenger side. At this point we can start lifting the hitch into position and you are definitely going to need an extra set of hands to help hold everything up and align the bolts. With all of the hardware installed we can reinstall the factory nuts on the factory bolts and then with the new bolt we will install the supplied flange nut. At this point we can snug down the bolts and then torque them down as specified in the instructions. With the bolts torqued down we are already finished and there you have it for part number 13358 from Curt on this 2008 Dodge Sprinter Van.
