Today on this 2002 Chevrolet Express, we are going to install part number 14090 from Curt. Shown here, this is how it looks when we are all finished. Alright, let us give you a couple of measurements for you. Now, from the top of the receiver opening down to the ground is going to be 16 inches. And then from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the bumper is going to be 5 inches. Now we will go ahead and show you how it is installed. 0:25
This will be a really easy install. We will go ahead and show you where the hitch will bolt up to the frame of the vehicle. We will use these three holes in the frame rail. Right now we are looking at the driver side. It is going to be identical on both sides of the vehicle. Alright, we are going to start off by installing our hardware. Now we are just going to use this hole right here for now. We are going to use a block and a carriage bolt. And we are just going to it into place. We are going to start off by installing one bolt on each side of the frame. That way it is a lot easier to put the hitch up into position with one bolt instead of trying to line up three on each side. Again on this vehicle, both sides are going to be identical. Now it is a good idea to have an extra set of hands also to help hold everything up. 1:02
Just to make sure, leave your hitch nice and loose so it will be easier to install the hardware. Again, we are just going to it from the inside of the frame down. We will go towards the front of the vehicle and install our hardware there too. And this is why you want to leave it loose, so you can move it around and get the hardware to go through. Alright, we will just go ahead and install the flange nuts. Again leave them loose. Then we will go over to the passenger side and do the same thing once more. With all of our hardware loosely installed, we will go ahead and snug them down and then we will go ahead and torque the bolts down as specified in the instructions. OK, in a few easy steps our hitch is already installed. And there you have it for part number 14090 from Curt, on this 2002 Chevrolet Express.
