Question:

Cargo Buckle G3 The standard product 2inch x 6 has a WLL of 1,167 lbs. The product with the S-hook has a WLL of 833 lbs. The strap appears to be the same otherwise. Why is the weight rating much less when using an attachment versus bolting direcetly to a trailer? Thank you

Although both systems have a strap that measures 2 inches X 6 ft, they have completely different mounting styles and that is why the difference in the WLL(safe working load limit) exists. The WLL is 1/3 of the maximum break strength of the system.

As the attached photo shows, part # IMF18804, uses 4 bolts and a plate below the mounting surface it is attached to. The WLL is 1,167 lbs, and the breaking strength is 3,500 lbs for this tie-down.

The CargoBuckle G3 Retractable Ratchet Straps, part # IMF18800-86, has 2 bolts that are used to secure the tie-down in place and does not have the plate used below the mounting surface to attach to. The WLL for this tie-down is 833 lbs, with a maximum load of 2,500 lbs.
