Complete Towing Setup With Brake Controller For 2027 Kia Telluride

Updated 10/20/2026 | Published 10/19/2026

Question:

I have a gas-model 2027 Kia Telluride without the factory towing package, hitch, or trailer wiring. We're buying a small camper with electric brakes and a 7-way plug. What parts do I need to get it ready? I'd prefer a brake controller that doesn't leave a big box hanging under the dash.

Hey Jason! For a complete setup on your 2027 Kia Telluride I recommend the following:

-Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C82RJ

-Curt Powered Tail Light Converter # C59236

-Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7

-Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR

-etrailer Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # e66PR

-etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar # e38FV

The Curt hitch is a Class III with a 2" receiver and has a bolt-on installation. The # C59236 will add a 4-way, then you will upgrade to a 7-way using the # ETBC7 which will allow you to install a brake controller. The Liberty is simple, reliable, and will look like an OEM brake controller once installed.

The adjustable ball mount lets you tow a variety of trailers. If you know the rise/drop you need you can get a simple fixed ball mount as well. Then the anti-rattle will keep everything nice and solid.

Which camper are you getting?

We're looking at a small Jayco. I like the idea of the adjustable ball mount since we might end up getting a utility trailer down the road too.

@Jason the adjustable # e66PR will be a nice choice if you plan on towing different trailers. You'll be able to switch between ball sizes and adjust the height without buying another ball mount. Good luck with the new camper!
