Hey Randy! I got in touch with Swing King to find out exactly how much of the tongue sits inside the bracket of part # TD53FR. They confirmed you'll have about 3-1/2" of the tongue inside each side of the bracket.

The bracket itself measures 20-1/4" long, so you'll gain approximately 13-1/4" in overall tongue length. I also included Swing King's chart below that breaks down the maximum pivot length based on trailer and tongue weight. That should help you determine whether this setup will work with your trailer.

Do you happen to know the total weight of your trailer when it's loaded?

It’s a pontoon boat that weighs 1900 pounds. I don’t know what the trailer weighs. It’s would be a tight fit in the garage. Of If I were to order it would I be able to return it if it’s too long? I don’t need to install it to figure it out so it would still be unused.

@Randy You can return it but we should be able to figure it out without needing to do that. Since your pontoon weighs 1,900 lbs, the trailer will add some weight to that total. Do you happen to know how much shorter you need the trailer to be to fit in your garage? I want to make sure the folding tongue will give you enough extra room.

@HeatherA I guess the measurement I really need is the distance between the back side of the hinge and the most forward part of the hinge when it’s folded. Does that make sense?
