Question:

I’m looking for a set of replacement shoes for Dexter 3500 pound axles. They are electrically actuated, but also have a manual cable to actually the brakes to tilt the trailer.

Hey Michael!

It sounds like you have Dexter’s 3,500 lb electric brakes with the parking brake feature. These use a standard 10" x 2-1/4" brake shoe, and the Replacement Shoe and Lining Kit # AKBRKR-S-10 will work as long as your brakes are the manual-adjust 10" x 2-1/4" assemblies. The kit replaces the shoes on one brake assembly, so you would need one kit per wheel.

The manual cable you’re describing operates the parking brake mechanism and doesn’t require a special brake shoe by itself. Dexter lists the K71-047-00 shoe and lining kit for its 10" x 2-1/4" 3,500 lb electric brakes, including the parking-brake version.

If you can send me a picture of the brake assembly or the numbers stamped on the backing plate, I can confirm the replacement before you order.
