Will The Pewag PWE2441S Tire Chains For A 2026 Ford F-250 Tremor With 285/75R18 Tires?

Updated 09/21/2026 | Published 09/17/2026

Question:

I have a 2026 F250 Tremor with 285 75R18 tires. I have a set of V Bar chains from my old truck Titan Chain 3831 that I believe will fit. And I’m looking at buying the pewag Mud Service chains PWE2441S. The only reason I am reaching out is because your website says they won’t fit 2026 F250, but I think they are considering the smaller non-tremor tires.

Hey Jason, thanks for reaching out. You are correct that the pewag Mud Service Chains # PWE2441S physically fit a 285/75R18 tire, and that is why they show up when searching by tire size. They are a very heavy-duty chain with 8.2 mm square links intended for serious mud, snow, and off-road use.

The issue is the 2026 F-250, not the tire size. Ford specifically states in the 2026 Super Duty owner's manual not to use snow chains on trucks equipped with LT285/75R18 tires. Ford also specifies SAE Class S chains for applications where chains are permitted, and the # PWE2441S is not Class S compatible. So even though the pewag chains physically fit the tire, I cannot recommend them on your 2026 Tremor with the factory 285/75R18s. I also would not reuse the Titan 3831s on this truck for the same clearance reason. You'll need to swap out the tires for a different size or get a dedicated set of snow tires.

Where do you use the Tremor most in winter? Mountain passes, ranch roads, or trails?

Well, I called you guys Friday and talked about it. Your phone support thought they would be fine. I ordered them from you and they should arrive tomorrow. I think I have plenty of clearance, and the F250 Tremor package adds another 1.5” of lift. It doesn’t surprise me that Ford is saying don’t use chains as a CYA. They said I shouldn’t use them on the Raptor rear tires too. There was no clearance with the control arms on the front of the Raptor, so it wasn’t possible to use chains on the fronts. These are for emergency use on Forest Service roads and ranch roads in Colorado, far off the pavement. I’ve used the V Bars in deep slippery snow with a muddy bottom. I also used them once in sticky mud and they did not do well. The mud service chains I’m hoping will probably be my go to chain, because mud is the most common issue I run into. And if it’s really bad, I will probably put the mud service chains on the rear tires, and v bars on the front. I pull an RV trailer up and down these roads and I need a way to deal with bad conditions. When they arrive I’ll try them on and take a look at the clearance.

@JasonK Ok gotcha yea clearance is the main factor so while the lift should help you'll want to make absolutely sure the chain doesn't obstruct anything in the wheel well.
