Troubleshooting the Demco 5th Wheel Adapter Rails part # DM615 Not Fitting Into Ford Pucks

Updated 09/10/2026 | Published 09/03/2026

Question:

I just purchased a 2016 Ford F-350 with the fifth wheel puck system. I ordered a Demco 6175 from you and it wont fit. The puck holes measure 29 inside edge to inside edge and the Demco unit measures 28 7/8 inside edge to inside edge. I can get one side to in but not all four. Im lost. Paul

Hi Paul,

If you're having trouble getting all four feet to set into the pucks, set the Demco 5h Wheel Rail Adapter part # DM6175 over the bed with all four locking handles in the unlocked position. Try getting all four feet into the pucks before turning any of the handles. If they still aren't lining up, check the adjustment at each puck, the hardware is designed to be adjusted during initial installation at the attachment points. We've had other instances where adjustments to the mounting points were needed in order to make it fit.

To make sure the adapter is the right dimensions, I would measure from center-to-center. The Ford pattern the DM6175 is designed around is approximately 30" center-to-center side-to-side and 13" center-to-center front-to-back. Measuring inside edges can sometimes misleading because it includes the diameter/shape of the puck openings.

If you still have trouble after that or if the measurements are really off, please let us know.

Mine was tight as well. Simply loosen up the bolts at each attachment point and it will drop onto the pucks in the bed. Then tighten the bolts while locking the bracket in. They just put those together at the factory. Each truck bed may be somewhat a little different and even heavy paint may affect the system.

@Brian Thanks for sharing! They can definitely be tight from the factory and small things like paint or dirt build up in the pucks can keep it from seating properly. I appreciate you sharing your experience with us! It will for sure help others in the future as well.
