Looking for Heavy Duty Equalizer Kit for 2022 Forest River Salem 270 RTKX

Question:
I have a 2022 forest river Salem 270 rtkx toy hauler. I want to replace my suspension with the dexter heavy-duty suspension kit for tandem axel trailers 1 3/4 wide double eye springs. is that the proper kit that I need?

Hey Fj, there is a really good chance that yes the Dexter heavy duty suspension kit part # K71-359-00 will work on your 2022 forest river Salem 270 rtkx but you will have to measure to be sure as we don't have a way to know exactly what your trailer has currently to know if this is correct size. Unlike vehicles trailers don't have extensive databases with all of their replacement parts listed. So you will need to measure the dimensions of your current equalizers and the distance between the bolt holes on the shackles to know if this will work. I attached a picture of the shackle dimensions and the shackle dimensions are 2-1/4 inches long on bolt hole centers.

The Dexter kit worked fine, per se. Spring eyes were elongated and needed replacing, and the springs were an odd size (3700 Lb per spring rating on a dual axle 5000 Lb trailer). Assume yours are bad and determine the correct replacement before you start, if possible. I found part numbers on the springs and axle that helped. I was not able to get accurate measurements of any of the parts until I had disassembled them. A cordless impact wrench made the job go quickly. I replaced them early this year so check back in a few years to see if the lube fittings helped :)
